well if what i seen this evening is a sign than i say the rut is starting.while sitting in one of my favorite ground blinds i caught movement to my right and here comes a good doe out of the Field and into the woods she is acting goofy she stops and looks behind her know I'm thinking here we go there has to be a buck behind her and low and behold i see sun glistening off of some very nice shiny tine all 8 points . he walks Upto the doe puts his nose under her tail and flips it like 3 times and than mounts her not once but 3 time over a 20 minute time frame they were at 60 yards and i could not get them to come closer and that was at 5:15 pm i left the woods right after they left the area on the way out i see 4 other bucks chasing does in a field

I have my vacation scheduled for next week. Hopefully, I did not incorrectly schedule it. I wanted to be out during the seeking and chasing phases, not the breeding phase. What are the rest of you guys witnessing?

BigD - I'm west of Binghamton by 20 minutes and we are in the seeking & chasing phase here. Saw a beauty of an 8pt last Friday chasing a big doe. My mother in law saw him again on Monday night just before dark. I haven't been able to get out since Saturday but tomorrow afternoon and Friday afternoon I will be out. It's suppossed to be a fairly good weekend here with temps cooling down and alot less wind than last weekend. Good Luck on your vacation!! Knock em dead
