Now that bear season will be open for alot more of us, will you shoot a bear if you see one in season? I have only seen one bear in the woods and that was last year in Springwater (8N) while scouting for turkey in the spring. I have seen some sign here and there over the last few years... I will shoot one if I see one...

I guess at the moment I would draw up on one. My buddy shot one in the Catskills and felt real bad afterwards and said he would never shoot another. It was a good bear but said it didn't feel good seeing it die. There was a sow with four cubs by me one was a blond. we also have a big male that visits my corn field regularly. Will keep you guys posted.

Since I have tried bear and was not fond of it, I doubt I would take one because it would go to waste. However if I knew someone who would eat it, sure. But I would want to do it with my muzzleloader.

KPkot,
9H was included in the proposal. I have seen what appears to be a Dec press release on several other message boards.
The DEC site has NOT been updated yet showing that it passed for this year.
I will find out for sure on Saturday when I go to the hunting and fishing days in Avon.

Small world....My son just got back from there!! Have you ever been there???
He was the only hunter up there this past weekend . Didnt see anything but said he heard what he believes was a bear.
He said the food was fantastic!!! And the guide is a real nice guy...By the looks of the pictures the bunkhouses look very nice. He had a great time.
I may go with him next year.
Good luck
