Here's a story as to why us upstaters get a little hot.
When I used to live in NY I was hunting some state land around Georgetown in the late 80's. I came out of the woods on a dirt road one day and was waiting for some of my buddies. A new Range Rover (Days before HumVees) pulled up and a guy wearing all of Cabela's latest got out.
He admitted he was up from NYC and was doing a little hunting. He immediatly started bragging about the custom shotgun he had with the rifled barrel and how he shot these expensive Hornaday XTP sabots (Before the new SST). He mentioned they were hard to find and looked at me with my ripped hunting clothes and home made sling and asked me if I knew where he could get any.
His jaw dropped open when I walked over to my old 73 Torino and said I got 10 boxes do you want to buy any. I then slung my shotgun around from my shoulder and proceeded to show him my 1100 special field with the Leupold scope and Hastings rifled barrel and mentioned how much better it shot since I had the barrel pinned to the receiver, free floated, and glass bedded.
I guess he wasn't going to mess with a "yokel" again.
LOL I was a 315er myself between Syracuse and utica

aaah-the mason jar you ask about? Pass that baby around and we be friends for life! CJ- It takes all types-being from downstate I still run into the "know it alls" especially on the trout streams, BMW's is the vehicle of choice.lol Hey on the flip side I have seen the local boys upstate slip onto private land during deer season wearing Carharts!!! Go figure? We can go on and on! Jerks on both side of the fence. Getting back to the original post maybe as a show of support, if anyone finds out that this family is in need of anything why don't we donate? It could show support from hunters that really care about safety and life, it could come right from NYDEER.com!

Very cool CJ- "The Last American Hero" I will look into getting some info on the family, maybe I can call in a favor from from one of my reporters. We don't need the anti hunters to grab onto this one, let's be proactive and show our support.

OK-didn't take long. Here is Charly Skala's obituary:
Charly Ann Skala, the 16-month old daughter of Howard Lee Skala and Sherry Conklin Skala, died tragically on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Born July 18, 2007 in Middletown, she is survived by her parents and a sister: Stephanie at home; also surviving are her grandparents: Ava and Frank Skala, George and Darlene Conklin, Bobby and Eleanor Caston; as well as numerous great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, from 4-7 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St., in Wurtsboro.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 21, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. Robert Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to "The Skala Family Fund" and can be sent to any of the First National Bank of Jeffersonville branches in our area.
The bank address:
The First National Bank of Jeffersonville 4866 State Route 52 - P.O. Box 398 Jeffersonville, NY 12748
Remember to write the check out to "The Skala Family Fund" Do you guys think we should send one check or everyone on there own? If we go alone I would say it was from "your name a member of NYDEER.com" Maybe a small note expressing your sympathy and how much NYDEER members care about safety and human life. Burt

As far as official letterhead we really don't have any. Cliff is at the QuailShed in Illinois and difficult to catch up with this time of year.
