Who is going out on Tuesday???
I am ready.!!!!! and waiting!!!!! My scouting has revealed that there are birds everywhere ... My son got the morning off so I hope we can pull off a double.
last saturday, I was parked at a listening spot on a dirt road just as dawn broke. I blew the locator and a tom answered about 40 yards off the road. About 15 minutes later, 5 hens came into the road about 75 yards away followed by a nice tom and a jake. They stayed in the middle of the road for about an hour and the tom never broke strut. the jake would strut once in awhile. After watching for about a half hour, one of the hens was ready and I got to watch the tom breed her, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.....he finished with her and then another sat for him.....what a life these gobblers have!!!LOL
After watching for an hour, I finally ran then off to go check another spot.
Lots of gobbling and hope the weather is good for Tuesday.
Good luck...

I am ready!
I concur Bruce I think the season is going to be a good one. Who knows just as we figure it will be a good one knowing our luck it will turn out bad. But no really I think it will be good.
I have a bunch of vacation days left to burn before I get my new vacation so I took a bunch of days off, way more than usual, which is going to be nice....a real vacation! Even then I have a few days left so I am thinking about taking the rest of my vacation off today.
Have been seeing a bunch of turkeys across the road from my house. They come into the field about 8:00 and cross that corn lot and fly up and roost right on the corner of the woods. They are out there about every morning as well.

Jon where are you planning on going Tuesday so I know I'm plobably going to Pauls and going to try setting up down by the corner of the 3 properties Todd & Lisa's, Jon W's, and Pauls. Sunday when I took Buggy out I didn't hear much but what I did hear was coming from toward Shilling road. There was some hens up on top but not too many. I just hope that the one I heard were not across the road. Chuck

I'll be on the top ridge : straight in from backyard and in the woods right on the crest of the ridge, about where I drug your deer up last season.
Sounds like they were scattered sunday for you. That's weird but hey those turkeys over there seem to always get wierd right as the season starts for some reason.
Good Luck.

I'll be out as usual in search of my first bird. Been trying for 4 years now and just havent had the right oppoutunity. Have called a few in and have passed on some chip shots at Jakes. Hope it all comes together this year. Good luck to all of you guys going out and be safe. Btw - an update on me, I finally found a job and will be heading back to work on May 7th. Thanks for all of the encouragement and kind words. Things really do work out for the best.
