Went out this am to try my luck . Got to the spot and just as I parked it started raining . Has a downpour for about 15 minutes . Got out of the truck , grabbed my gear and headed out along the hedgerow . The mosquitos were terrible . I put the dekes 30 yards out from my spot , setup some cover and sat . I turned on the Thermocell and no more skeeters . At 5:45 , I saw a doe coming across the plowed cornfield at about 70 yards . She was watching the dekes and went down a ways then headed back to take another look . I could see her as i was peeking through some thick stuff . The doe finally wandered off . It was quiet . No gobbling or anything . I called a little and got no response . It sprinkled off and on but I was protected by a couple of big trees . Around 10:30 a farmer started disking the field behind me . I figured with the noise and fumes as well as not seeing anything , I might as well leave . As I was gathering up the dekes , I saw some movement a couple hundred yards up the field . I grabbed my binos and saw that it was a hen . It was sprinkling again and I left .

Glad you got out Ed....I haeard alot of gobbling this weekend but I think the birds have been messed with too much...They wont come.
The thermacell is great...I have been able to stay out alot longer in one of the worst seasons for bugs that I can remember....
Try to get out again, the hens are all nesting and this is the time you can have a real monster come in..
Good luck...
