What will be your guys opening day tactics? State/private? Do you go out all day or late morning? Do you scout the previous night? Use a locator Call?
I am not 100% sure but i think i will try my luck at my own land first. I have a good idea where to set up so I am going to forgoe the night before scouting and get in the woods super early. Last year there was a good amount of hunters walking around the land so I like to hunt the opener where i am very familiar.

Well long as I'm not sitting in a delivery room, should be able to sneak out for a couple hrs on private. Time will be limited so hopefully that's all I'll need. I'll try to roost the night before, but shed trips are showing them holding to the same roosting areas they have in the past. Not much else has changed out there far as I can tell and I usually get to work a few different birds over a relatively small area.

getting em to gobble isnt the problem most of the time its the darn hens with him but thats another story.I guess im getting old or something sitting in a thunderstorm has lost its appeal .but the latest reports are just calling for showers i can handle that got to spray down the pop up with silicone ;D

Very nice Eddie - tell your son he's a lucky one. Year 7 for me has started and I actually got to shoot at a large, long beard only to have him run away. Guess that dirt hitting him didn't feel too good as I misjudged the distance laying prone on my gut under the pines shooting downhill. He lost a few feathers but he will be back to the decoys. What an exciting hunt though, had a coyote come out and try to attack my decoys. It happened so fast I had no time to react but was amazing to see him smack right into them trying to get a good meal and realize hey this doesnt taste like turkey and take off. Will try to get at em again Wednesday. Anyone else have any luck?

I have had them gobbling like crazy but they won't commit. The problem with the one place where i hear them all the time is there is alot of ridges and they don't seem to like crossing them.
