Got up at 4:00 and the wind was howling but I decided to check out my spot as it is in a valley and is usually protected from the wind. I got there and it was as calm as could be so I got in the stand at 6:30.. At 8:15 I spotted 3 deer to the north of me and they turned my way as they usually do when they are on that trail. One button buck and a small doe came to my shooting lane and munched their way right to the base of my tree. The big doe was a little leary as the breeze was swirling and she was catching my scent. She finally stepped into my lane broadside at 20 yards and stopped. The shot was perfect and she ran 50 yards and collapsed. She is now quartered and in the frig waiting to be cut up. The bad part is, when I released the arrow, I heard a commotion to the south of me . When I turned to look, I see this giant buck running up the hill. He was on the trail that comes by my stand and was headed right to me!!!! Spooked when I released the arrow. I only saw him for a second but he was very wide and high. I didnt notice him because the does were coming the other direction. Oh well , maybe he will come back tomorrow, Anybody else have any luck?

Hey guys!!!! Sorry I have not been around but glad to see you are all still here. I missed all of you. Congrats on the doe jon! I shot a buck this am, sunday morning at 8:30 am, with his nose to the ground and came back to my grunt with his hair all bristled up ready to fight. He was a 9 point, weighed about 160 dressed. That is the 4rth different buck I have seen since opening morning but passes until i saw the body size of this deer. The shot was 10 yards quartering towards me when i stopped him, both lungs and liver on the way out , watched him fall over after only 40 yards it was awesome. I would put up a pic but i can never figure out how to do it. Well hope to hear back from all of you and I will be around for awhile , good luck to you all i am after does now. Congrats to all who have gotten deer!!!!!!!

I screwed up this am . Drew back on a nice doe and hit my elbow on the treetrunk . The arrow went sailing right under her . I could have shot her son or daughter but passed on them .
