Tom,
Samo samo up here in the mountains, NO DEER....................................The weather has been so messed up (warm) I have only seen two bucks all season, one was already dead and the other one popped out of a hedge row and was chasing some does behind my house one night last week, he was there, then gone. Nice 8 pt though.
None of my friends are reporting any kills or sightings either. Not sure what is going on out there.

Do you guys think that the warm weather will set most rutting activity back another moon cycle, or do you think they are just getting it on at night?

I am no expert ,but since you asked, you get to hear what I think. The past 2 weeks (up to this past weekend ) , I have seen alot of chasing and heard alot of grunting by mostly small bucks. Did see one real nice one that i couldnt get a shot at. He was chasing a lady like a 16 year old. This coincided with a few days of increased car/deer collisions and near misses that people have told me about. This past weekend, that activity fell off substantially. Most of the activity I saw during this period was between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm
I believe the best is over and the bucks, especially the big boys are with the does and are waiting for them to be ready. This past weekend , I saw bucks with does, not chasing but just following them. They moved right at first light and that was it. I suspect the bucks bedded down with the does and didnt move until the does did. I think the activity will pick up again before gun season as the bucks breed the does they are with and head off looking for another.
Half the people I talk to have seen extreme rutting activity the past 2 weeks and half are still seeing no sign of a rut of any kind.
That's my opinion , strange year for sure.
Good luck.

I went out last night had 2 bucks running around in circles looking for does. Went for a walk this afternoon and counted 10 fresh scrapes the rut is close or here. Saw a huge buck in a field yesterday morning on my way to work at least 12 points I could count. Be ready it is on. Went to wolcott to my friends 200 acres Thurs- Sun, rattled in 7 different bucks and missed a monster doe, also alot of button bucks and yearling does running everywhere. My place in Webster where I shot my 9 point and where all the scrapes are is deffinetly hot right now and it is gonna suck when the monster walks in front of me and I have to watch but i am very happy with the buck I have to me it is not always about the rack but the great jerky and sausage I am eating, i would love a pope and young or boone and crockett but the hell with that, I just love hunting, the meat, the thrill and the love of the outdoors. Good luck to you all and sorry about my rant.

Fred, That is the strange thing. You are in Webster and seeing things going crazy. A guy at work is from east webster and hasnt seen a rub or scrape. He is seeing plenty of bucks and does in the fields at night.
I am sure the rut is going off on schedule . Probably at night like Handcannon suggested. The game is definetly on and not delayed. It is definetly time to stay in the stand all day if you can
Good luck

Look's like this will be the week heading into the gun season. Next year I'm taking off the two weeks before the gun season. This is the third season in a row that I haven't seen "ANY" rutting activity in my neck of the woods!! Heading out this afternoon and all day tomorrow, after that, the fat lady can sing!!
