I ordered a NEF 25-06 from Gander Mountain. Should have in in another week or two. I talked to a farmer and there is a slight chance I might be able to get a couple Nuisance Permits in Monroe County. I plan to do some reloading for this after I empty a couple boxes of shells .

Eddie,
I have the 25-06 ultra. I have deer hunted with it and it will do the job well. I reload and I use the Sierra Game King 117 grain BTSP ans 54 grains of IMR 4831. It will shoot all day with that load. Only problem I saw with it was at times it was too much deer gun. Hit a deer in the ribs and really tears up the other side. I would make it a neck shooter if you can and I am sure you can

Thanks for the tip Bubba. I was considering a 243 and most guys told me to go to the 25-06. I was considering the Sierra 117 gr Gameking or the Hornaday 120 gr Interlock.

I had sent an email to Gander Mt over a week ago telling them that on the WalMart website they advertise the NEF 25-06 For 187.78 . The mgr replied that it was $5 below Gander Mt cost but sold it to me for the Walmart price . I took the ads and the emails in today and picked up my new rifle. Sweet ! ;D

Well FE...How does that 25-06 shoot? I would like to pick one up if Allegany County goes rifle hunting instead of slug gun only...I know, I know...A pipe dream...But one has to dream doesn't he?

Good question Bubba...Never did purchase one for myself...I opted for a 7mm-08 barrel for my H&R Ultra Rifle to compliment my 223 barrel...I was really close to purchasing the 25-06 barrel but opted for the 7-08 instead...
