Anyone doing anything with treestands yet ( putting up , moving , etc) ? I was down to my mother's today and moved a stand . I had it just in from the edge of a hay field and left some trees for cover. Someone used it last year and cut the trees down . I moved it farther from the field and more into the thick trees then trimmed just the upper parts from some brush for a shooting lane . It's 60 miles from here , in Groveland , and I only hunt there maybe twice a season . Gotta put up a stand in Walworth in the next few days before the skeeters get any worse .

I was just down looking at my ladder stand during turkey season...I was considering taking it down and painting it a nice camo paint job...Got to do that before long so the smell is long gone before 10/15...The climber is in my shed taking a warm weather nap. Two of my chain ons are in my garage awaiting deployment and there is one other that is still on a tree in Scio(Hopefully). I want to take that stand down and tighten up the bolts...Nothing more unnerving than when your stand moves back and forth because the one bolt at the pivot is loose.

Recently Turning 51, I don't enjoy hanging my "hang-on" stands as well as screwing in 17+ steps anymore. My arms get very sore and I work up one heck of a lather in the process!! Today I ordered a Summit Goliath X5 climber from Cabela's. Hopefully it will get here within a week. I always liked Summit treestands, and I finally took the plunge and picked one up. At 6'-0" and almost 255 lbs, I wanted a little more room and a heavier rated climber. It only weighs 1 lb more than the regular Viper model. Can't wait for that puppy to get here!!

I attest to the quality of the Summit Treestands...I have a Viper Extreme XL and a Cobra top half for archery season...I always take my climber hunting with me. It might not always go into the woods but it is there just in case.

Now take it out and practice putting it up and climbing as quietly as possible...It takes some finesse but you can do it with practice. It's good to have a routine because you will most likely be climbing a tree in the dark. Good luck...

Sorry to hear about your stuff getting stolen . That sucks big time ! Too bad you don't know who they are so you could give them a payback . My son is kinda anxious to get to his camp in Italy Valley to see if his cabin , etc is still intact .

I am moving all my stands on the private land I hunt and need to find a new place. Kind of an entwined family story, but lets just say my wifes family is in turmoil right now and my brother in laws farm I have been hunting on I no longer to plan to go near. The sad part is it will drive a wedge between my nephew I spend so much time with and myself. However there are times when doing what is right is what needs to be done, So, I am loking for a new place to hunt mostly evening watches. So my stands will come down by next weekend and I will store them until I find a place

I wish I had an idea but all I have is the direction they went. Now all I can say is I should have taken them down after shotgun. But the last 4 years I've had no problems. I HATE TRESPASSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That rots...How many stands did they take? Are we talking ladder stands, hang-on stands or the home built type?
