Okay guys, I need some feedback. What is your favorite scouting camera and why? It would also be helpful to know if you have tried cameras that you did not like.

BigD,
I bought a Moultrie some years ago, 35mm version. It was ok at the most, very expensive to operate and time consuming.
The newer models with the digital tech are much easier and better. You will hear different stories from different guys on which camera set-up is best.
I am in the process of building my own, a "homebrew" as they are called. There are literally hundreds of sites, suppliers and instructions availible to do this for 1/2 the cost of a store bought model. (pending on camera choice)
Check trailcameras.net, they have a comparison site and really get into the subject rather heavily.

I have an old 35 mm StealthCam that I havn't used in quite a while . Expensive to operate . I have a Wildview that eats batteries and works only when it want too . Collecting dust . I have two StealthCams . One uses AA batteries and the other uses 6 C batteries . The latter works best . I am considering buying a IR (no fvisible flash) camera . I was looking at the Stealth Cams at D!CKs but someone on another site mentioned Moultrie . The Moultrie takes color daytime pics whereas the Stealth doesn't . There were good reviews on the Moultris ........

I have a newer Wildview Extreme4 and for the money, I would suggest this camera. I actually saw them on sale at Sam's Club the other day for $90 plus a $10 rebate. Now Fastione is correct, it does eat batteries (4 C bateries last approx. 2 weeks continuously) but they do make a 12v conversion kit for $35 to $45. I may look into that kit for next year. There are some sample pics in another thread which I will link to at the bottom. I guess it's all in what you are looking to spend on a camera. Buy cheap and you will more than likely get bad results. Middle of the road yields middle of the road and of course there is the new cams that will e-mail you everytime a pic is taken via sattelite. Good luck with your choice. nydeer.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=bow&action=display&thread=1190513101&page=1#1190513101
