I always try and tell my wife that I don't smoke and I do not go out drinking (other than at hunting camp)...So, why not spend a little cash to support the American firearm manufacturers?... Yup...The 357 Magnum bug has been nipping at my heels for some time now...Well, it finally bit...I went to the Buffalo Gun Center back in September and picked out the Ruger GP100. It has a 6" barrel, weighs 45 ozs, has a rubber grip with a rosewood insert, and is satin stainless steel. It came with adjustable sites. I added the green stabilized spalted maple grip inserts in place of the rosewood inserts just to make the gun a little different. I will use it for up close and personal deer hunting...Probably not more than 30 yards...And, I will not be scoping it. I will be using the factory adjustable sites for the time being. This gun is going to have to split time in the field with my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44 Rem Mag... I'll be shooting some 158 gr Jacketed Soft Point ammo at whitetail this fall...Well, hopefully... I ordered a Sourdough Pancake holster and Real Man belt from Simply Rugged for this revolver. I love the way the pancake holster snugs the gun down against my hip and the belt does it's part by not sagging under the weight of a relatively heavy revolver. Even with full house 357 Mag loads, this gun is manageable to shoot and more accurate than I am able to be without a rest. I'm going to pick up some 38 Sp wad cutter ammo to punch some paper and see how accurate I can get with this Ruger...
