Well regular season is over now in the Northern Zone. I saw 27 deer total and not a buck other then the one my buddy shot. I am glad I saw as many antlerless deer as I did. My good buddy sent me his dmp for this area and I got it on Friday. I saw 3 does on Saturday one in the morning on the run across a corn field. I took a shot with my encore 257 roberts, but, it was a long ways and I missed. Saturday evening I saw 2 does running across another corn field as my brother in law pushed them out. They were about 250 yards away and on the move. I had my savage model 99 300 with me, and I missed again. Went out today in the snow for most of the day and saw nothing. So, his dmp remains unscathed. A week of late muzzleloading starts tomorrow and ends next sunday. It is either sex for the week, so I hope to see some of those does I have seen all season. All in all I was quite pleased with my season and look forward ot next season already even though I have not harvested anything myself yet. We are planting some food plots next year for the season and see what happens.

well in the Northern Zone it is officially over. I hunted Friday Saturday and we made drives today. I did not see a deer in the 3 days. It has also been snowing quite hard and a strong southwest wind since Friday night. Oh well I am looking forward to next season already. Also looking forward to getting into some bird and rabbit hunting with my nephew. And since I coach 8th grade basketball, I will have more time to devote to that also. My pointer is getting restless around the house so time for him and my lab to go to the woods for a day and run and get it out of their systems for a few days. Even though I did not harvest a deer at all, I truly enjoyed my season. I hope everyone else had a smuch fun as I did. Bubba out looking forward to 9/27.06 when bow season starts in the north.

Eddie I am surprised you didnt have something to say about the orange lol. By the way can I have my shirt back lol The Avatar was small enough where I thought it was just the color of your hair . Those of us who don't have a death wish will wear a bit more than that .

I wish I had that much hair lol. I wear that hat when we hunt state land, which is more like private land beacuse we go way back in and dont see anyone at all. I dont have a death wish, and if they cant see that glow in the dark hat I doesnt matter if I am dressed in orange head to toe

well it was a good weekend for muzzleloading even though I did not drop the hammer. I got a new piece of land to hunt about 20 minutes from home. went there Saturday evening and saw a total of 8 deer all to far for the muzzleloader. One was a nice 8 point and if he shows up next saturday night when I have my rifle he will not be so lucky. Tonight I was out and had 2 fawns 10 yards from my doghouse blind. Maybe 60 pounds a piece and there was no way I was going to shoot one of them. It rained a bit on saturday and snowed a bit too but the weathe rheld off today was cloudy but no precipitation.

well tonight I committed the cardinal sin. I got busted by a deer I did not even know was there. I had 3 deer out in the meadow ahead of me I was watching them moving a bit closer and waiting. They were probably 175 yards away and too far for me to shoot with a muzzleloader cuz I really do not believe that 200 yard deadly accuracy thing. Anyway behind them a 4th deer was about to come onto the field so I picked up my binos to have a look. As I did the deer to my right about 35 yards busted me. That deer was in the meadow 35 yards away from me and I had no clue because I was too busy watching the ones already out there. oh well I guess I learned my lesson. Hopefully it did not spook them too much to quit coming out before dark.
