I always thought it would be fun to chase them with hounds in the snow! So, how does this work, and how many can you shoot?

Its a ball. Up in northern ny you can take up to 6/day, 2/day in the rest of the state. Our population of snowshoes is pretty variable- much of the state has none but some areas are quite good. Its alot like cottontail hunting with a dog but snowshoes usually go on a much bigger loop (larger home range) and don't generally "hole-up". I'll probably go up north for them with a neighbor & his dog soon- will post up pics if we do. They are BIG compared to cottontails. Hold one by the hindfeet at your waist & the ears are on the ground!
