Went out yesterday and jumped some brush with my uncle. We did ok for not having a dog saw about 15 only got 4 though.Should have had at least 2 more shot them and they kept right on going, simply amazing that an animal that small can take a shot from a 12 ga. and keep going. The rest were all out of range and ran into a still standing corn field smart little buggers. We need about 4 inches of snow to make for some perfect rabbit hunting hopefully we will get some before the season ends. Oh ya we got 2 squirrels as well.

Yeah, some snow would definately help. I went out yesterday and wasted alot of time hopping on piles that held nothing at all. Alot of my go to spots seem wiped out this year. Good thing I've got a couple of back up plans to hit tomorrow. You can't go wrong hunting thickets that show fresh rabbit pellets, but man are they tough to spot on the bare leaves.

Ya but it's a catch 22 it's too warm to wear alot of clothes but if you don't you end up getting all torn up by the thorns.I think I bled more than the rabbits we did get.

Two long ears and a tree rat in the freezer tonight! I remember a time I enjoyed cleaning the little buggers, but not so much anymore. Spent two hours this afternoon kickin old field cars and had some good action. Man do I need to work on my straight away shots, I shoulda had a limit today in no time, but they got the best of me. Something else I noticed. I need to get out of deer hunting mode and the one shot one kill mindset when small gaming. I brought too much shot back home with me today in exchange for what should have been a full vest!

Went out to try and do some tree rat hunting yesterday. I have cabin fever being off of work so I just had to get out and jumped at the oppourtunity. My bro in law and I were headed out to the pines and kicked some brush along the way. Armed with 22's the first one jumped and ran to 15 yards and stopped. Got it right behind the ear and didn't move a muscle.
30 seconds later another pops out and runs to 10 yards and stops. Bro in law downed that one. We decided the tree rats could wait cuz this was more fun. kicked up another 8 or so and missed all of them but what a blast we had. I'm gona try to get a few more for stew on Tuesday. I'll let you know how things work out.

Well went out Tuesday the 13th just before the big snow storm here and kicked up 10 but only got 1. Was by myself and they always seem to run to the offhand side of me. Put quite a few rounds through the .22 though trying to get them buggers.
Went out again this Tuesday armed with the shotgun because had seen quite a few grouse kicking around and figured if I saw them again I'd give it my best effort. Well only saw 2 bunnies and got 1 of them. Thats 3 for me and 1 for the bro in law, HAHA!!! Did see 8 to 10 turkey as well. Was a nice day, around 36 degrees so it felt good to be outside. I need a job and quick. Seasons are closng fast and I wont have anything to do. Well thats all for my ramblings.
