all right the gear is packed.the heat and humidty and rain are gone its a beautiful bluebird day Im going squirel hunting also brough some steel shot shells in case any geese want to commit suicide.I'll report back later ,carry on

Well the bad weather finally let its grip on NY go.Today was beautiful.60's blue bird sky light breeze .Went up to stewart forest today hit walmart picked up some shells for the geese,hit the post office for my new duck stamp.The road is closed into the park they are doing work filling in the holes widening the road and adding drainage pipes,yeah no more bone jarring rides during bird season.So i find a spot outside lace up the boots tight ,put on the tin cloth chaps and the shooting vest.First thing i notice no water the great swamp is a small swamp and all the pot holes are bone dry i walked trhough dust was coming up.Oh well looks like no gees.Time to hit the oak flats i walk around found wild apple trees fully loaded and dropping,wild grapes,honeysuckle and acorns galore mental note for deer season.I finally hear some tree rats arguing the way they do then out of nowhere 3 come hauling ass cashing after each other.IM about 40yrds away bam,bam bam.nothingI go to look the wads hit the tree but no rats????I guess the light 71/2 werent enough.i hang around for 10 mins another pops out a hole bam,nothing again.Screw this i put in pheasant loads.i walk a little further but im getting hungry.I sit down break out the jerky and water and i catch a glimpse of something.Sure enough big fat doe,i feel my thumb going for the safety,not yet too early in the year.That familar rush of adrenilan felt good though.I get up walk a little further hear more rats arguing this time im ready i see one run across a limb 30 yrds away bam.she falls to the floor.I pick her up put her in the pouch ,nice to feel weight in there again.The suns going down so i work my way back to the car to clean up and take pics.I know i'll be back soon enough.GREAT DAY in the woods
