I just ordered a stainless G2 Contender pistol in 7-30 Waters off of the internet last night. Went to the bank today and had a money order drafted and sent in the payment. The gun should be at my FFL dealer by next Friday or perhaps the following Monday. Now I need to purchase some factory ammo and start collecting brass. I guess reloading is in my future. I've been reading up on this round for some time and it seems to be perfect medicine for whitetail in my part of the country...I have a Bushnell 3200 2-6x32 Firefly scope that I will be mounting on top. I'm just no sure what scope mount and rings I am going to purchase yet...Any recommendations?

There are afew manufactures out there that make them..
I would go with name brand and get the best that your pocket can afford..
My pick would be Leupold Mounts

I doubt if you will find any 7-30 waters round other than 120 gr Federal ammo . It was a wildcat round and few ammo manufacturers stuck with it . If you are able to get hold of any 30-30 brass , grab it up . The only deer I ever shot with a pistol , was with a necked down 30-30 reload . I fire-formed it when I shot the doe ! You can get a set of Lee 7-30 waters Deluxe Dies for less than $25 . I reload with the 130 gr Sierra Spitzers #7520 . It is a single shot pistol bullet and you might not be able to find these anymore .

Thanks for the replies...FE, Federal is the only ammo manufacturer that still makes the factory round for 7-30 Waters. I've found a few good deals on Gunbroker in the past few weeks for multiple boxes. I might go that route just to get the 7-30 brass. If that does not work, then the 30-30 necked down brass will be my next avenue.

Well...The gun came in last Saturday and I picked it up from my FFL on Sunday. Today, I purchased a scope rail and rings...I opted for the Weaver mount with Weaver Quad-lock 4x4 rings...The setup looks great on my Contender...Now to get out and shoot it.
