Never joined...Thought about it a while ago...I'm not a big fan of their hard line on crossbows in NY State.

I had considered joining several times but never did .
I'm not a fan of the crossbows so I don't have a problem with their stance on them.

I was a member for two years, not a bad club they have much to offer. As for crossbows I believe that they have a place during the season just don't know where? Bow hunters are a special breed and I just don't want any old guy picking up a crossbow and hitting the deer woods during bow season it could ruin it for alot of people. Maybe allow the crossbow during smoke pole season?

yeah i dont want to debate the whole crossbow thing here.I got the application for my nephew and he filled it out.So far they have 9 kids for the weekend so its looking good they want 12 but may do 9.Im planning on getting him the diamond edge bow..Ilike that its adjustable draw lentghts and weights.he can learn on it and can eventually hunt with it..the package is 300$.still got to get arrows and release,etc... but its gonna be fun to have a hunting buddy.

Good fo you Joel...Sounds like a great way to spend a little dough. The Diamond bows seem to be pretty good...After all, they are made by Bowtech...IBO speed rating of 298 fps @28" draw and a 6.75" brace height. Do you need another nephew? I can call you Uncle.

went to the camp it was awesome.if you know any kids who need to get the bow permit this is the way to go.they feed ya like kings they learn hands on compass, tracking ,stands and safety made arrows from scratch plus they shoot all weekend, targets and a 3-d course they had a DEC officers come and talk also had a turkey seminar by one of the guys.they all passed and got framed certificates, hats and other goodies like compasses and turkey calls. I stayed the whole weekend and helped out it was very satisfying for sure.i wound up getting him a browning micro midas its nice cuz its also adustable in draw length and weight.he loves it and has been shooting often

I can't wait until my little man is big enough to go along with me...At 2 years old, he wouldn't understand and sitting still is not an option now. We've got some time...Good luck to you.

Joel, I am so glad you had a great time. While I was a member of NYBH I never went to the camp but read about it in the news letters, sounded great. I have an nine year old girl who shoots with me maybe next year i give it a try! BTW where in the city are you?
