I passed on a small 7 point and a spike. Believe it or not they chased each other around and the 7 point bristled up and the 2 of them actually spared for a few minutes! That is the first time I have seen that in the woods up close, it was awesome!!!!! Hope everyone else had a productive morning. Ohh also those bucks did not move until around 10 am. Good luck all.

I saw 8 does by 9:00 only 3 gave me a decent shot but they were heading toward my son so I let them go. They got on the other side of a thick area from him and smelled him. They snorted and took off. I talked to him on the radio and we were going to go to breakfast after 15 more minutes. 2 minutes after I put the radio away, I hear thwack and see a deer running from his direction. He said he put the radio in his pocket and looked to his left and this doe was coming. It stopped and he put a great shot on her. Only went 40 yards. It was a small to medium sized doe , his first in 9 years of off and on hunting. He is a little upset it is a smaller deer than he thought but for his first deer ever , it is fine especially with the bow. He is hooked now . I was more exited than getting one myself. There is nothing like being there for a kid's first deer. He did great on the field dressing but didnt like the drag and it was all down hill!!! Imagine that!!!! It was a great morning and looks like it is going to be a great season. Good luck.

Fred - you savage - how ya been. Glad to see you could make it back this year. Sounds like you had a good day.
Contender - Tell the boy congrats and that is a heck of a first deer. Besides, she'll eat better than that big old mature doe.
Saw 6 doe total today - 2 little skippers from this year fed under me for 2 hours. Passed on all of them waiting the big guy. Hope all had a good time today. Was a great day weather wise.
Checked my trail cam for first time in a week - Batteries were going but had 115 pics. Scanned them at home with my camera and had a 6th buck on there, a spike. Lots of buck pics again and 1 of the Monster cruising at 10pm. He's still out there.

Bruce, Tell DJ congrats!
Yesterday sawa 6 point int he morning, no shot. Saw a huge coyote as well.
Lasy night saw the pair offighting bucks again at 150 yards, got them top within 100 and it got dark and they stopped.
This morninh I went out and got the smaller buck of the fighting pair. 7 point, 20 yard shot clean pass through double lung and part ofthe heart. Ran 20 yards and fell over.
My commitment this year was not to my self for a big buck, my commitment was first and foremost to fill my friends freezer that is hurt. I will see Greg this morning and it is a huge blessing of God, That folks is a prayer answered. I asked God to deliver this deer this morning so I can help his family. He is on a special pass today and is coming to Church. That is great news. God is so great!
Hunting season has been good so far. Jon

Contender, That deer will be excellent eating, way to go! I had a big buck chasing a doe 7:30 Sat morning he was a good shooter grunting like crazy, could not stop them. Saw two smaller bucks and some real big does which spell trouble! I am not kidding but one of them blew at me about 50 times! It was excellent weather by us and the corn is still standing. We found some of the local bear's favorite spots to munch on corn, it's amazing how they turn up an area in the corn field.
