I have heard alot of storys true or false? not sure. me and my buddies laugh sometimes when we hear cat/cougar/puma.etc. Stories. But last Bow, 2008 season a buddy of mine said he had some sort of cat come out into and old grown up pasture where his stand was. well he said it was like two hundred yards down wind of him. And the animal walk up towards him and got within forty yards of him broadside. He said he had his binocs on him the whole time. He describes the cat as having a rounded face, pointed ears, it stood like 24 inches high. about 30 inches of tail that looked like a rope, and was black. well he wasnt going to tell me the story because we pick on some freinds about these same storys! so i would have to believe him. hes got 35 years of hunting experience. so he can tell a house cat from a ?? well im not sure what you would call it. well i figured i would share the story and wondering if anyone has seen this or has pics of some sort of cat.(not a barn cat) NewYork

It sounds like a discription of a cat they claim to have seen down off Rt 21 on Hawkes Road in South Bristol . The DEC will tell you that they don't exist !

Funny that this came up - A guy that works for me was talking about this the other day and a friend of his told him that a buddy hit a large cat last year on a back road going to his house. He knew it wasnt a house cat or a bobcat and he called the DEC. He was hoping to keep it and get it mounted. Well the DEC showed up like a tactical swat team, scooped up the roadkill without saying a word, and drove away. The police made a report that stated a cat-like animal was struck causing the damage to his vehicle.
Again, belive it or not, something fishy, or should I say something Cat-like, is going on in NY.

That's interesting how particular they are with their 'cover up'. Makes you wonder what else the government and their agencies keep from us.

Found this fella shed huntin today. Hard to say, a big arse headed housecat... but no mountain lion. Maybe a bobcat but I've never seen one or track of one here before. I'm ruling out cheetah and African lion. Going back in the morning with my forensics gear (big knife) to get to the bottom of this caper! I may or may not let you know what I find out if the DEC spares me my toungue!

Slow start with 3 so far but I expect that to change come spring. Out again today and had to see d**n near 100 deer on the propperty in total and only 2 bucks still holding.
Snows melting but I'm sure I'm walking right over top and past plenty of them. Since the snow started piling up I got a pretty good handle on the bedding areas and trails to and from the woody browse that has become the hot food source in the area.
Now I know where to look when the time is right. Should be a good end of the year catch for my 1st season on this land.

Last weekend we found some tracks that were from a lynx? are they around?? We had a dead feeder in the field and it seems every critter is coming for a piece of meat, cool to see all the different tracks.
