Guys, This is off topic but need some help. About a month ago I cut myself on a blade of a saw. Took 6 stitches at the meaty part of the hand below the thumb. Stitches came out after 12 days and the cut did not close but the doctor said it was healing from the inside out. He put some tape on it to hold it closed ans said in about a week it will fall off (the tape not thumb) and the cut should be much better. well it is about a month now the tape fell off but the cut is taking forever to heal. It is much better but still open. I called and they said just to cover during the day and leave it open to the air at night, will need a few more weeks. It is in such a bad spot that it is hard to use my left hand, I am a righty. Any home remedies for healing a deep cut-help! Thank goodness this is not bow season!

Yup, listen to your doctors. I'm terrible with stitches. At last count I was at 70+ and like to pull them myself before docs check them out. 7-10 days doesn't always mean they're ready to be pulled on day 11 to avoid a follow up visit.
I'm deformed proof of that and have a few lumps in places there shouldnt be because of it! lol Just keep it clean and dry and Neosporin the bejeezus out of it. I always found that easier to do at night when I'm not working and just kept it wrapped all day.

Doc said it was healing fine! He was pulling and pushing the wound thought I'd pass out (wimp) I just have to give it time, said there would be a scar. Duct tape, probably would of worked KPkot

on a cut like that the last thing you want to do is seal it with liquid bandage. As stated the cut is healing from the inside out. It needs air and it needs to be able to move a bit. Also when a cut is deep enough to heal from the inside, it needs to drain as the process goes on. Sealing it with basically super glue would give it a great reason to get infected very badly. The medical field is my forte. I know it has been a while since the last post, but I expect the wound is pretty well healed by now.

Bubba, You are right. Best thing was the air getting at it. It took another week and it was 100% better. In all it took a good 7 weeks for this cut to heal. Still get pain here and there but it is closed with not such a bad scare. Thanks for all the input Guys!
