Well I took another trip to Cabelas in PA yesterday with my neighbor and a friend of his. Took us 3 hours with a 24 mile detour for missing the exit to get there. Spent 4 hours browsing the store. Just some facts about what I noticed when I was there:
1. The price of ammunition for certain brands has skyrocketed since November so shop now before the price triples on your favorite brands. Reloading supplies are flying off the shelves as well and there are waiting lists of 90 days or more on certain supplies.
2. Used guns seem to be plentiful down there. Did a quick count and the racks they have for used are holding 384 guns as of yesterday. Shotguns and rifles of all makes and models.
- Buyer beware as always - Found a few on the used rack for almost $60 more than a new one behind their counter for exact same setup, nothing different.
3. The bargain cave they advertise on their website is a junk room. Most of it is odd ball stuff, used or opened packaging, and repaired or refurbished items from the manufacturers all sold AS IS!! Again buyer beware.
4. Looked at some new guns as well, mainly .22 rimfire just for fun. With 6% sales tax down there, and their overall prices being lower than those up here at Gander or D IC K S, it's worth it to save $50 to $80 dollars down there. That is of course, if you are in that area or planning the trip down there.
I highly recommend the trip to anyone and everyone, kids and wives too. It is a great place if you like the outdoors and should find something for everyone. I took a few more pics and will post later, nothing fancy, just a few mounts and the full gun racks.
One more note I heard while down there that they are building one down near the Meadowlands and it should be done next year if I am not mistaken. May be a little closer for some of us on here.
