Everyday throughout the season I saw three does in front of my stand. They would stay there most of the day. They ate a little and slept, got up and ate alittle more and slept again. Finally in the late afternoon they would go away. I had three small bucks walk passed me (one at a time on different days) but not when the does were around. Should I have found another spot to better my chances of getting a larger buck?

Not sure I would have done anything different. The does in the area unaware of you and the passing bucks. May have just needed to spend a little more time in there. Then again, maybe setting up a bit farther down wind of the bedding area to catch a mature buck scent checking their estrous status may have been something to think about. Think I would get in there now and look the area over again to see if you have any of these buck trails that would offer you another good ambush location. Just a thought to ponder with the information you gathered last season. At least you have time on your side now to do this before making a decision in haste once season rolls around again. BTW, Welcome to the site!

Welcome. I think you were in a good area. My thought process would be if they don't know you are there don't mess with it. As soon as you make a ton of comotion your going to spook them. Also hunt the rut hard because one of them does will go into heat and the big boy will be there with his nose to the ground. At least having 3 doe there everyday gives you something to watch as well. I along with many others on this site could tell you countless times where we got to our stand and didn't even see a squirrel.
