Well now that I have some free time, I went through some old pictures from hunting and fishing that I had taken with my 35mm. I scanned them into the computer and wanted to share some of them.
I'll start with my Father. The pic below was taken in 1979 in my grandfathers garage. That is Dad in the pic with his biggest Buck ever, a 10pt that field dressed 208lbs. He owned 33 acres back in the day and thats where this buck was taken near Whitney Point NY. He shot over 10 times while running after it, blasting sapplings that got in his way. The deer even has a perfect slug hole through it's left ear. "Ralph" still hangs in Dad's basement.
He did have him measured and he scored in the 134's
This is me. Don't recall but I think I was 16 or 17 when this was taken. This was my first deer ever, a 4pt. Taken on State Land while hunting with my Dad near Smithville Flats, NY. We hunted there for years after my Dad sold his 33 acres. Took a few bucks and plenty of does up there. Nice neck shot huh?
This is my second largest rack that I've taken over the years. Not much to brag about but he was mine all mine and dropped him with one shot at about 70 yards. He was a tasty 6pt that was taken at my camp in Lordville, NY.
Here is my largest racked deer I have taken to date. I thank the bowhunter who hit him high and forward as he survived long enough to walk past me at my camp one morning. 1 shot at 90 yards and he ran another 150 yards before it was over.
This is my FIL Gary. Here is a 9pt he took on a freezing cold, heavy frosty morning. I was hunting across the valley from him and had a huge doe come in to about 15 yards of me. She spooked and ran down the valley and crashed up the other ridge. I jumped out of my skin at the shot. I was even more surprised when I went to the cabin and saw the 9pt and not the doe.
Here is my BIL Dana. The lucky SOB had to steal my thunder. You can see my 6pt in the truck along with his dark horned 9pt. After all the jokes about how small mine was and how big his was, it was a great day in camp for sure.
I have posted pics of my camp before but this was an older one I have on a plaque here at the house I thought I'd add.
And lastly, here is an 18lb Salmon caught in Pulaski at the baseball hole a few years back. Maybe I'll take a few days and drive North this year for some Salmon action.
Hope you enjoyed the trip down Memory Lane as much as I did and I look forward to making more memories this year. Good Luck to anyone going out for the early season this week.
