LOL Don't know as I never saw another hunter out that day! To be fair I was up in the mountains the rest of the state had heavy rain.
I know down here they all pick on my red wool coat and green wool pants.

I was out last wekeend here in the north. I have a t/c encore with a 50 caliber bergra barrel. I shoot 100 grains of pyrodex select 2f and a 250 grain lead bullet I mold in a harvestor crush rib sabot. I also use the h&r sidekick with the new 209 breech plug that does not need the orange carriers. A sweet upgrade. By far this was the least produvtive season in a few years. I did not see a deer after opening weekend october 24th.

I'm hanging in there till the end. Seems activity is heating up again as the temps plummet . Shooting for one more on the either sex tag to top off the freezer.

Well I thought season was over after the last doe but I guess not. Here's #2 for the late season with the ML I took today about 1/2 hr before dark. I sat a well used trail heading to the big stand of pines they like to bed in. She came in like a ghost and just appeared before my eyes. Kept hearing some crunching in the snow but couldn't pinpoint the source. She stepped up out of a little gully and on to the trail where I shouldered the ML and drilled her. She dropped on the spot but was still very alive. The shot hit high just above the lungs. She was craning her head bellowing so I hurried to load another round. At this point she mustered enough in her to roll down the gully and get stuck in the mud at the bottom. I don't think she was going anywhere at that point but her head was still up so I put another one right bhind her shoulder from top of the hill. I am done now and can say that this has been one helluva a season for me. What great memmories I made out there all by my lonesome. Amazing how nature can bring such a sence of peacefullness and complacency with nothing else around. Most folks would be bored out of there minds after the first few hours of season. After 3 straight months of being out there every day...I wouldn't trade a minute of it for the world. Next up shed season!
