I just started shooting back in December,,but I am doing quite well, shoot on a league since June. I am interested in Hunting deer, possibly in October. I was wondering if it`s out of the question to hunt from the ground. I know almost everyone is in the trees, but I don`t know if I am comfortable with being up there yet. Does anyone hunt from the ground,or have any advice? Also,,how bout what broadhead I should use..Thanks...

Hunting from the ground with a bow is definitely not out of the question. My preference is to be in a tree stand. However, I have had some success on occasion hunting from the ground over the years (one buck, three does).
You may want to invest in a decent ground blind if you plan to hunt from the ground. If it is not tall enough for you to stand in, practice shooting from a seated position. Also, the deer may get a bit jumpy if the blind suddenly appears. If you are on secure, private land you may consider leaving it up so the deer are accustomed to seeing it. You may want to rake out all of the leaves, twigs, etc. from the inside. You would be amazed at how much noise you make when shifting for a shot.
Pay particular attention to scent control and wind direction. This is always important. However, it is magnified when hunting from the ground.
Everyone has their preferences regarding broadheads. I like Muzzy, four blade, 100 grain. If you utilize “shoot through” mesh on a ground blind, expandable broadheads are out.
I purchased a ground blind last year, but only used it occasionally for firearms seasons in NY & PA. The archery deer that I have taken from the ground were carefully still-hunted (due to tree stand boredom). It is possible to get a deer this way, but patience and sitting will probably yield better results.
