That is very interesting. I have a Remington 870 with a Hastings barrel. I wonder how much more accurate it would be with the pinning process. The current accuracy is fine with me for the area I use it. There is rarely a shot opportunity beyond 100 yards based on the topography and cover.

My 870 shoots just fine in my opinion but if it could be improved I wouldn't mind.

The only problem I could see is that you might knock down your resale value...But, it's only an 870 and if you never plan on selling it anyway then you are never going to care.

Good info. Like most of us here, slug guns were the main weapon of choice during the deer seasons. I have shot over the years Rem 870's, 1100's, and Win 1300's, with so so results.
But, now that we can use rifles in Catt. County, a rifle will shoot rings around a slug gun, and you don't have to put up with that Elephant gun recoil either. My 1300, using Lightfield slugs, could shoot to 75 yards fine, but it was at the fabled 100 yard mark or beyond (125) that it failed miserbly!!
I realize that rifles aren't allowed in every county, so I may have to get an in-line BP gun to reach out there if needed. I'm passing on slug guns from now on.
