Results from Saturday:
I shot a 7 point (makes my total 5 for this season) and one other friend in the crew shot a 8 point that was huge. About 20 inches wide and around 200 lbs. My buck went about 20 yards that 8 point went at least 1.5 mile.
Good weekend though saw some other deer but no one scored on putting them down. All in all 2 bucks in a single day is good news.
God has been real good this season.

We shot at a few yesterday in the big snow storm we had here. They were hunkered pretty well and the deer came out on drives where I was a driver not a stander. The standers missed when we sent them out. I saw the backside of a Doe at 3o yards who was high talling it out.

"saw some other deer but no one scored on putting them down."
That's the short version of saying...
We tried a drive on a small stretch of brush, and a doe jumped out. Handcannon shot and missed with his shotgun. ;D

Still nothing . I was out in Walworth for 4 hours yesterday and didn't see a thing . I heard a bunch of shots the other side of the Golf Course on Allantic Ave . A few guys must have unloaded their shotguns at deer or got some shooting out of their system ! Well , I have a few days of Black Powder left ............

My son finally found time to get out. I put him in my tree and I made large loops in all directions around him. Trying to get something moving. I saw tons of beds, tracks everywhere and some really fresh scrapes. Thought we were in business but to my knowledge I didnt kick up one deer. This was some thick territory and the deer were just not in there. Dont know where they are going during the day but I have a few ideas.
I usually stand hunt all the time and it was good to take a long walk with snow on the ground. It was a beautiful morning and it is good to know there are alot of deer around.
Stayed up to watch the Sabres last night , that was over a 1:00 so I didnt make it up this morning. Will head out this afternoon to take another walk to find the deer for smokepole weekend.
Good luck

I shot a buck this morning on the last day. What a coincidence it was the same buck I passed on opening day of bow and for the next 2 days after that. He is an 8 point, i will post pics, he was chasing 2 does through the woods at full speed. His tarsal glands on the back legs stink and his neck is swollen, possible second rut. Well still have one doe tag left for muzzleloader. good luck to all.

I am officially done. We were out yesterday and put in about 6 hours of small drives until I got lost in the swamp. Myt ankle knee and back are killing me today. I slipped on a rock buried under snow and went on my back on the rock. My buddy came in briefly today from cicero to make sure his camp was closed up for the winter. It almost killed me to get up and down the hill. I came home pulled the breech plug from the sidekick pushed out the load and cleaned it up and put it away. Got my clothes all packed away and done. Season cleses here at dark today. I got one 6 point with the muzzleloader in early season. I am happy with that. Looks like next year will be better if all goes well. New territory some new hunting buddies and camp if we all get it done next spring/summer. I did not get a dmp this season, so I had 2 muzzle/bow tags and my buck tag. I used only one of the three. There are 6 of us looking to get in on a possible 10 thousand acre buy. Not a typo. Talking about turning it into a hunting club if it works out. If it works out you are all invited for a weekend.

We got two more on Saturday AM.
Both were bucks that had no horns thus looked like Doe through the woods. First deer was wounded from a car with a broken shoulder. Second deer was wounded just slightly in hindquarter from a slug very obvious early in the season. The injuries obviously made then drop the horns early.
We did not put any other deer out on drives in the morning just those two.
Evening hunt - Watches a Doe at 40-45 yards for a half/hour. I was hunting the property line and she was over the other side. I was hoping she was going to come feed in the corn lot I was hunting. She eventually walked over the top of the hil and about 2 minutes after that I heard shots.
Season done for me as I am traveling again. Over all results were 5 deer for the season for me, not to shabby considering I missed a bunch of hunting time with travel.
Hope you all connect with the smokepole!

Nick season Buckshot! Bubba I feel your pain. I think I put on 20 miles this weekend in the 8" to 15" melted down snow. And slipped on the ice last night coming out from watch. I saved the gun though!!
No more luck for us this weekend. Lots of tracks even put a couple up. Just not working out. I did pass my one antlered fork again Saturday am.
3 of us muzzleload so we have a bit yet.

Don't hate me. NC regular season finishes Saturday Dec 15.
I have a VA license. There Muzzleloading season runs from Dec. 15 until Jan. 5
Elkin (a city near me) got permission for a special late archery season from Jan 12 - Feb. 18 to get rid of some nuisance deer. I have permission from a land owner already to hunt there.
I have been hunting since Sept. 8 here in NC.
It has been a great season this year and I still have two months left to hunt.
