Last week my Remington 1100 started to shoot very wierd. I put a bad hit on a deer for no reason at 5 yards. I could not hit the broad side of a barn and was pretty upset about it. I put the gun up and went back to my other fully set up 870.
Last night I started taking apart the 1100 and found the forearm split right in half. Contender advised this might be the issue and indeed it is. This was allowing the cap to move freely and thus the bbl was moving and in turn messing the scope up.
It is one of those things you do not realize until after the fact.
Symtom I found was the forearm moves freely much more loose than it should. Posting this so if you have a 1100 you can be aware.

Glad you found the problem Jon...Have you found a replacement yet?? I did a quick search and found a couple places have synthetic replacements for about $40.00. I would think wood ones are easially obtainable.
I am sure you have already started the fabrication proccess with PVC, chicken wire and Elmers glue!!! LOL LOL
I didnt expect to find any parts for the gun since nothing ever goes wrong with them Remingtons.....
