hi guys I didnt post much last year, but this year will be better. Looking forward to a lot more small gaming this year especially upland birds. I have an 8 month old femle lab pup I am working with as a flusher. Archery starts here on 9/27. I have 2 tags left from the pst season, so I will give it a whirl to try to use one of them. Then gonna put the big game stuff up until muzzleloading which starts the 11th of october. I got my license and got turned down for 6a and 8p for dmp's. I still have 2 tags for the week of muzzleloading which I take off from work, then a buck tag for regular season. Planning a trip south of rochester for a few days to hunt with some friends. My nephew turned 16 in august so he is planning to be out too. I am his surrogate dad, so he and I are planning now. I am looking forward to seeing him get a deer. best of luck to all of you

a rainy opening day of archery here today. I had a a wedding to go to today, but was home by 5. I got changed ad headed to my pop up blind with me bear grizzly recurve. I did not see anything, but it sure felt good to be out there. Raining here again, so I doubt I will go out in the morning. Hopefully, I will be back out in the afternoon.

ty same to you fletch and everyone else.
Last chance today to use last years tags. I rushed home and got changed then the rain poured down. Needless to say I switched tags and changed clothes. I made some venison spaghetti sauce and ate dinner lol. I am hoping to go pheasant hunting this weekend then start deer again on the 11th when muzzleloading starts here in the north. I am off for the week of muzzleloading and hope to pretty much live in the woods for the week.

I got out this morning for a little stroll in the woods. Took my 12 gauge side by side remington spartan and went to look for some pheasants. Had a nice walk and saw a lot of deer sign but no pheasants. They release a bunch every year at a local piece of state land, so there were lots of people looking for pheasants also. Was not a bad walk and the ankle is getting better.

well tomorrow morning starts muzzleloading here. I have the sidekick out, my speed loaders ready and I am meeting my friends at 6 am to make some drives on state land. I took the week off and do not go back to work until the 20th. I have some work to do on the house and will hunt also. I have friends here from downstate and my nephew who will be on his first big game muzzleloading hunt. He turned 16 in August. We are getting ready for bed so I am going to get off here and call it a night. Best of luck to everyone who is heading out tomorrow.

well we got out this morning there were 4 of us total. We got into the woods and on watch about 7 am. I was on the swamp side of a cedar patch with a winter wheat field behind me. Around 7:20 a doe worked its way down through the cedars and poked out into the opening before the swamp. She gave me a standing 40 yard shot broad side. The sidekickk did not let me down. Around 7:40 my buddy shot a decent doe also. So we hit 2 this morning. Pics of mine to follow as it will need to be cut up soon due to the weather.

sorry no pics. I took some on my phone, but can not get them on the puter. I have the technology but it is a work phone so do not have the equipemnt to do so, and I found out that we do not have the software available. So, I will describe her. She was brown had big ears walked on all fours and had eyes on the side of her head. Seriously I can not get the pics on here. We went out yesterday morning and my 16 year old nephew went out with a firearm for the first time big game hunting. We were walking across a big meadow to get into the woods on the state land and walked face to face with a decent doe. She saw us when we saw her and she turned and bolted for the swamp. We made a couple drives with no sucess. I went out last evening and got in my pop up blind with shorts and a tshirt as it was 74 here. As I sat there from 2:30 until dark I kept thinking that I should be out on my motorcycle enjoying the nice afternoon. This morning we took my deer out of the walk in cooler and processed her. My buddy helps me do so and he takes the scrap meat for stew and jerky. I got some meat vacuum sealed and in the freezer. Going out tomorrow morning to try to fill my other tag. The weather is supposed to change tomorrow and get cooler, so hopefully the deer will start moving better.

I try. My purpose in life is to put a smile on everyone's face that I connect with during a day. I took a buddy out today. We have kind of drifted apart over the years as many do, but have reconnected lately. We used to go to my camp to hunt with muzzleloaders before it was the in thing to do( 25 years ago). We would spend a week and have a great time. Anyway as stated we drifted apart. He had a dry cleaning business go under and went back to college where he has been busy. His wife of 29 years had a stroke 6 years ago and just went through surgery due to ovarian cancer. So needless to say he has been dealt a bad hand over and over. Anyway he had a day off today and we went muzzleloading. I took him to one of my good places and explained to him how to get to a good watch and I was gonna push a small swamp and hemlock knoll. Anyway he got turned around and ended up on the other side of where I was driving and I took about 3 hours to locate him and get him back to the truck. His wife was quite nervous until he called. He was quite embarrassed and felt like a fool. I made another drive trying to get him a deer with no success. I was sure hoping to. He goes to college during the week and works every weekend and could use a bit of good luck and was hoping a friend could help him out. That will probably be his only trip out this fall. I sent him home with tenderloin, steaks and some stew meat. He was looking forward to a dinner tonight. Anyway I made his day by taking him out and we had a great day, which means more than any time I ever harvested game.
