Well my time will be shortened for this game but its for a good reason. Just got a call and the company I interviewed with last week offered me a job and I accepted it. I start Monday. I had told them that I have a trip planned and paid for Thanksgiving week and they agreed to give it to me off as well so I can still get to hunting camp. Unfortunately my bow season will be cut short but those are the breaks I guess. You can bet I will be out the rest of the week hunting hard and I am going to hang that stand tomorrow. He will be back before the weekend is out and I need to fill that tag before starting the new job. I'll give it my all.
This has turned out to be a pretty good day.

Awesome news!! On the job not the cut hunting hours. Don't you have jury duty next week!! Get your butt in a tree for the next 5 days. It is on and my call says the next 5 days will be the best before they start locking down. Good call on Turkey week!!

Thx Burt - it is good news for sure just sad my little vacation was so short. 11-11-09 Made plans to hunt with my buddy this morning at his place he goes. My wife was at work and wasnt supposed to be home until 715am. Well she woke me at 4am saying she came home sick so I could go out earlier. She has bronchitis bythe way, ickk. So I get up at 6am and call my buddy. He says give him 20 minutes. I got ready and we ended up going to my in laws instead. The place we have been going was being hunted this morning by a relative. We took the ladder stand with us and ended up setting that stand first thing. By 645am I had my new stand all set in the pine tree. It was wayyy to light out already but nothing was moving yet. I took my spot and he went to the other ladder stand. I don't recall what time it was but I was looking to the corner of the scrub field where the buck travels and I saw a deer. Then another. It was 2 small fawns feeding out of the hedgerow I am set up in. It is super thick and I thought I could hear something over there but wasnt sure. They came out and were headed right for my other stand and then the ladder where my buddy was. That is until my FIL came out of the house and headed to his truck. The 2nd deer saw him moving and freaked so they both ran off into the woods past my buddy at 100mph and 50 yards from him. I finally uploaded my last trailcam pics and these 2 were there Saturday morning as I was sleeping in. They look just like the two I saw this morning. We hunted until 930am and then got down as we were going to head out to the range and do some sighting in as well today. He got a text from the relative at the other place and he shot a 5pt from the ladder stand I was going to be sitting in this morning had we gone there and it was chasing 3 doe. The shot was a whopping 7yds. They found his buck and they were field dressing it and they had a spike come in looking around within 20 yards. Was at the rane from 1130am until 145pm. 4 of us went and we shot 11 different guns. Man that was fun. I sighted in the new scope on my Muzzleloader and it is awesome. My Dad sighted in his .270 in just 4 shots so that was good too. 245pm and I was back at the inlaws but in my hangon stand. It is in the middle now and with noone with me I thought that would be my best bet tonight. I freshened the scrape on the way in with some Doc's Breeding Pair in the scrape and hung a wick above it. Ended up wasting that wick and the juice cuz nothing showed up. Stayed until 515 and it was dark. Not exacty the dream day in the woods but it could have been worse for sure. The night did end on a beautiful note though. Check out these pics from my stand just before dark.

The colors did pop out at me and are beautiful. It was weird because I was scanning back into the woods and it got very orange so I looked back and thats what I saw.
UGHHHHHHH!!!! It's 3:00pm on Thursday. I just got home from grocery shopping cuz the wife is sick at about 230pm. I was going to ask the wife if I could go sit in the stand til dark but decided to let her rest and Im playing with my son. Well at 3pm my MIL calls to let me know that "my buck" is feeding and milling around in front of my hang on stand as we speak. The he decides to walk over by the pine tree. Great!!!! I didnt need that phone call. Now my stomach is turning. My wife needs to leave for an appt at 10am so I will be out there by 6 and hunt til 945 tomorrow. hopefully he will come back. From what she said on the phone, he was over by the scrape sniffin so my scent I laid down has his interest. I'll freshen it in the a.m. before I climb up.

11-13-09 When I woke up I realized it was Friday the 13th so all I had to do was dodge any black cats on the short drive and hopefully things would be ok. I was slow to rise today but made it to the stand by 630am. I freshened my scent wick and climbed up the tree. At 7:10am I caught movement to my left about 80 to 100 yards out. Turkeys. I had one fly off the roost as I got there and scared me a touch. I then proceeded to watch the flock fly down off the roost and head in my direction. The birds were coming closer and closer and I saw one nice tom in the bunch with about a 7 or 8 inch beard. If he came closer I would've attempted a shot but I never picked up my bow and just observed. They only came as close as 30 yards but they came right at me and then directly behind me. At 7:40 they were all out of sight. I counted 17 in the flock. At 8:30 I hear something to my left. I look and its a deer coming right to me. I grab my bow and then witness the coolest deer I have ever seen in the woods ever. A small fawn from this year comes through the olive and stops right in front of my stand. I had the bow up and was ready to shoot but I ended up just watching. She had a completely white face and the top of her head starting right at the ears. Her entire muzzle was white as well. I then looked closer and her front feet were completely white as well about 6 inches up. It looked like she had socks on. I have seen piebalds before but she just had her head and face and her front feet white. She gave me two opportunities but I opted to pass. Part of me said, your wife and daughter will kill you, and the other part said, give her one more year at least, if she makes it. She circled me and was at 4 feet from the base of my tree for almost a minute and then walked back into the woods behind my stand. I waited for another hour and nothing came following her trail. I got down and switched the cards on my camera. I was relieved when I checked the card. The buck that was out there yesterday wasn't the big 5. It was another 5 pt. I also had a 3 or 4 pt and what looks to be a 4 or 6 pt at night out there in the last few days. Here is the guy from yesterday that my MIL saw. He hung around for over 25 minutes. And here is the 3 or 4pt and the 4 or 6pt I made a commitmet to read at my daughters school today from 2:57 to 3:20. If they are that exact on times, I can be home and back in the stand by 3:45pm today. We will see what happens. If not my buddy and I are going to give em hell tomorrow morning. Not sure where. If its at the inlaws and that fawn comes back, I hope I can have enough restraint to hold off again. I kept thinking what an awesome mount that would make next to a big buck on the wall. Tell me if you think I'm wrong.
