Drove 45+ miles to South Bristol this am . It was drizzling rain most of the way and the same when I got out of my car . Hauled my gear about 1/2 mile to my spot .I had taken my Hub Tent Blind and used the red headlamp as it was pitch black out . I was set up by 6:30 am . It started drizzling more . I was 1/2 mile West of Canandaigua Lake ( New York Finger Lake ). Just after 10 am , I saw 3 bucks together ( spike 6 pt & 4 pt ) . The 6 & 4 came within 10 yards of the blind and offered a shot . I was tempted but figured I would hold out for a bigger buck or take a doe . I actually felt good about letting them walk . Since we can only take one buck during A few years ago , that never would have happened . Stayed until about 2:30 when it started to drizzle again . It was 35 degrees this morning .

Nice encounter Eddie!! Sounds like you had a good day overall. Now you need a shooter to cooperate.

I was in my stand before 7am in Geneseo . On the way to the stand i kicked out 4 deer . They appeared to be all does . Around 7:30 the deer started across the North end of the field , about 400 yards away . They moved out of the field around 8:30 . It was cccccccccold ! 27 degrees when I 1st got there . Around 10 am , I heard dogs barking frantically as the Genesee Valley Hunt Club was having a chase . The dogs ran across where the deer had been earlier . I thought they were chasing a fox but I guess they were chasing a coyote . Around 10:30 I saw two hen turkeys . I walked to the far end of the field to see how a blind might be set up another day and knocked some of the weeds down . Didn't see another thing the rest of the day and i had switched stands . Well , I did have a shepard dog come around at about 4pm . It was under my stand . Just enough to keep the deer away . I gave up at 5:30 pm .

Hang in there Eddie - the warmer weather could be that "October lull" I have heard about but things will get cooler and then "heat" up again deer wise.

I sat in a stand at a friend's property yesterday morning for 4 1/2 hours and saw nothing . This morning I went to Geneseo again (where I had seen 14 deer Monday) . The farmer had combined the soy beans Tuesday . I set up a Camo Hub Blind and was all set by 6:10 am . I saw one doe at about 100 yards . Around 10:30 , I said nuts to this . I was Coooooooold ! I got my ATV , pruning saws , etc and put a chain-on stand in a willow tree . I will give that a try next week . I took a trip up to Groveland to visit my mother . I checked my ladder stand in her small woods . There are 2 scrapes within 25 yards of the stand . I have never had any luck shooting any deer there (yet) . Can you see the blind ?

I went down to the stand at my neighbor's this afternoon . I was in the stand by 1 pm . It was reasonably quiet but I could hear some rustling in the thick stuff behind my stand . Around 2 pm I heard an ATV and some little kids hollaring and giggling . Then I saw some A-hole on an ATV with 2 little kids sitting on the rear basket carrier on one of the trails . They weren't supposed to be there . Anyway , I heard a commotion in the thick stuff like something took off in a hurry . I didn't see a thing and was p.o.'d about the ATV the rest of the afternoon ! ..

Havent been seeing much in my normal haunts so I took a ride in Groveland tonight. Deer and geese all over the place.

The blind is in the lower middle of the picture just above the brown area . If I didn't know it was there , I would have a hard time spotting it . I put the stand in that tree . I had to use a chain-on as a ladder stand wouldn't work in that tree . I think I will be sitting there tomorrow morning .......

I went to my SIL's property in Geneseo this am . I planned on walking across the combined field but apparently it was plowed yesterday . Walked the long way around to the stand. I was setup by 6:30 . Around 7:30 I saw a lone doe . Then around 7:45 a doe and a buck came along . They walked along the field edge and wouldn't cross like they normally do . I went up to my vehicle around noon . Was sitting there drinking coffee and eating a granola bar when a buck stepped out of the bushes 70 yards away . He stood there long enough for me to dig out my camera and get some video . Then he walked down by my afternoon stand and moved on . I sat in that stand for a couple hours and changed stands again . Didn't see anything until about 5:15 . I saw a buck 200 yards across the field . Used the "Can" and he stopped . Took some video then used the grunt tube . d**n if he didn't cross the plowed field fast . He came into the Lane-way (a lane with hedge rows on each side) but wouldn't give me a shot . At almost 6 pm , I got down , check the West field , grabbed my gear and started for the Subi . $ doe hauled butt across the field with the buck right behind them . Day-um ! :? :? :? s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/parker-bows/?action=view¤t=Sharyns10-27-09.flv
