Went to my Mother's in Groveland yesterday am . I was settled in the treestand by 6:15 . I saw a couple does out in the field a ways . Had a 6 point come within 15 yards of my stand but he wuoldn't step into a shooting lane . I walked back in the woods and saw where someone had made some ATV / Snowmobile trails and the deer seem to travel them . I still don't know who owns the property so i don't hunt there . I visited with my Mom and took a nap then went back out in the afternoon . I could see tracks where deer had walked in her back yard in the past few days . Saw another 5 does ( didn't see horns ) in the afternoon walking the trail in the woods . I might hunt there Monday and then put a stand up about 80 yards closer to the woods .

I drove my 60 miles to Groveland yesterday morning and hunted behind my mother's house . Had a stupid button buck walk by . He didn't even hesitate when he got to the edge of the field and strolled right out . He darn near jumped out of his hide when he was about 15 feet from my 3D decoy . Funny as heck . He looked it over and strolled off . I put up a ladder stand closer to the bigger woods and then visited with my mother for a bit . Went up to see the lady who owns the property east of my mother and she gave me permission to hunt there . Went down and sat in the new ladder stand . Wasn't seeing anything . I figured I would call it quits at 5 pm . It was starting to lose light and I saw a doe walking in the larger wooed area on another property . I thought it was going to head straight south but it started my way . I hadn't had any shots so I took one and hit it . The deer ran about 25 yards and flopped over . Then I saw it get up and run and lost sight of it . I got down and looked for my arrow with the Rage 2 blade but couldn't see it . I walked down to where I last saw the deer and it was dead . I didn't go more than 50 yards from where it was hit . It had gotten dark and I dragged it back to the open field and started to field dress it . Dayum , it had a wang ! It was a button buck and I think it was probably the same stupid one that I saw in the morning . I figured he would have been easy picking opening day of gun season ! Took the pic in Oneshot's garage Rage 2 entry Rage 2 exit

Went to Groveland yesterday . A doe crossed the road in front of me about 1/2 mile before my mother's property . I was setup in my stand by 6 am . Didn't see a thing . Got down at 10 am and looked for my arrow from Monday and found it . I trimmed a couple shooting lanes for gun season . Drove to Geneseo and sat in a stand from 2 - 5 pm . Didn't see a thing ! I got down and started walking to my car . Saw a buck crossing the field . Looked like he was limping but figured maybe it was the plowed field he was walking in . Looked like he had a busted antler . Tried to get a pic with the bino-cam but there wasn't enough light . What a wasted day !

I was at a friend's property in Walworth yesterday afternoon . Got in the stand before 2 pm . Didn't see a thing . I got down at 5 pm and started back toward his house . I was about 100 yards from the house and saw two large does . I froze as they were looking at me . They took off with a third doe right behind them . They ran through the high grass by the power lines . At least I finally saw something there . I reloaded some 44 mag for my oldest son . We are going to the Gun Club tomorrow am . I will probably spend some time in the the afternoon in Walworth ........

Went to a spot in Pittsford yesterday . The fields had been plowed and I didn't see a thing . My youngest son and I went to Mendon this morning . I couldn't get into the treestand and had to stay on the ground . I had a doe out at about 20 yards but she wouldn't step into a spot where I could take a shot . We quit around 9:30 and as we were leaving we saw a doe feeding . My son tried to approach her slowly but she finally spooked and ran off . I think i'm done with bow hunting for the season . Time to get ready for gun hunting .

Fastone, It isnt going to rain this weekend. Weather looks good...Not really cold though.. The rain in the city today, brought back memories of last year. I sat in the tree from dark to dark and never saw a deer and didnt even hear a shot.
Congrats on the button.
I finally got a nice doe Saturday. Eating some backstraps as I type this...I saw 5 different small bucks from my normal spot since halloween and passed on all of them cause there is a bruiser 10 point that I saw out of range on halloween. I did not see one doe from that spot. Moved from the swamp thicket to the hardwoods on Saturday and shot the doe 30 minutes after I climbed up. Amazing what a change of scenery does.
Had a group of 5 skin heads file past my stand at 10 yards yesterday. Held my fire to see if a buck was at the tail end of the line, but no go. By the time I figured out there was no buck, I had no shot. 2 real big does in that group, biggest ones I have seen in awhile.
Those does will get pushed to the swamp on Saturday where I will be waiting.
Are you going to Geneseo Saturday??? Not going to your son's camp??
Good luck and be safe.
