I went to Geneseo opening day . I was in my tent blind by 6 am . At 10 am , after seeing nothing for 4 hours , I got up and headed for the woods . Kicked a doe out in the tall grass . The woods was flooded because the ditch can't drain the water . On the way back , I saw a does about 200 yards away . Got some coffee , a couple granola bars and went back to the blind . Sat there until almost 5 and saw nothing . Every once in a while I would hear a shot in the distance .
Went back to the same place Monday and didn't see anything . In the afternoon , I went to Groveland and saw absolutely nothing . Around 4:45 I heard 3 shots in 3 different areas .
So far , so bad !

I am heading out for Geneseo in a few minutes . Rain is forecasted so I don't know if the deer will be moving or if they will be hunkered down ..........Might get a bit of slushy snow also .

I had intended on hunting this afternoon but wussed out . I had run some errands this am so I was out and about . It was about 42 degrees but felt below 32 as the wind was blowing . I just couldn't convince myself to hunt today . Probably won't get out until Monday ........

Hang in there Ed. The cold is coming tomorrow and snow on Thursday. I really believe the deer numbers are way down and what is there are not moving because of the warm weather and hunting pressure. I hunted the first 2 days and all I saw was one small six point at high noon walking along sniffing for does. I let him go and 5 minutes later he got shot by aguy 200 yards from me.
I had the last 4 days off and didnt hunt at all . I figure I will wait for the cold weather and the hunting pressure pressure to die off.
There are not many people seeing deer so I expect alot have given up.
Good luck tomorrow....

The deer get educated real soon as soon as the shooting starts opening day . IN geneseo I was hearing shots at 6:50 and around 5 pm when it would be fairly dark . I always figured about the time I would shoot early , I would have someone in a green uniform tap me on the shoulder !

Where did all the deer go? I hear ya Fastone, haven't seen anything sitting but while moving they seem to appear. They can hide pretty good. Keep at it and hopefully you will be rewarded.

I was tempted to do some walking yesterday but even doing a slow walk , the frozen ground was too crunchy . The deer would have heard me walking 200 yards from them . The woods on my sister in laws property is flooded and if I was able to shoot a deer back in the woods , I would have to float it out ! ;D.. ;D.. ;D

Went down to Groveland early this am . Was in a treestand by 6:15 . Didn't see anything all morning . Did some walking with the hopes of kicking something up . Nuttin' ! Went back out in the afternoon to the same treestand . Saw a couple hunters in the woods about 200 yards away from me . One of them looked to be about 20' in a tree and he moved around a lot . I finally left at almost 5 pm . No sighting all day long .

I went to Mendon Monday am and spent 4 hours freezing .I saw a lot of tracks and a multilude of spots where the deer but never saw a thing . I was out in the afternoon . Walked the woods a couple times and wasn't seeing anything . When I got within 150 yards of my friend's house I saw all kinds of tracks . I was looking to see where I might be able to relocate a stand next summer when I heard a noise . I looked over my shoulder and a doe ran by about 50 yards away between where I was standing and the house . Never saw anyrthing else . I went back out Tuesday afternoon and stayed until dark and saw nothing . Well , what the heck . Bow season is only about 10 months away ! .. ;D.. ;D
