AM behind the house. Well it was mostly just sprinklin this am. No wind at all and they were predicting 10 to 15??? No sightings except a coon in a hurry to get somewhere! Did find some good sign though.
PM did not plan on hunting the afternoon. With the prediction of rain and 20 to 30 winds. Was out and about with my 4 year old son. We leave the restaurant at like 5:pm and it is sunnny and completely calm??? Nice f'in weather prediction!! He says lets go hunting so we hustle home and get out behind the house. It is 5:30 ish we jump one doe going in. We pick out a spot against a tree and put some brush in front of us and just sit. 10 minutes later I see one off to the left about 35 yards out. I point it out to Conner and he is whisperin "shoot it shoot it" I am whisperin back that it is just a fawn and to small. He is going why?? Of course it looks big to him since it is now inside of 30 yards and it is the first time he has actually been sitting and seen one. Well the little one finally heard us and took off taking another with it that we had not seen. Probably mom. 5 minutes later he has got to pee "bad" I say not on my watch so we pack up and head back to the house. Hopefully we did not push em around to bad. I will stay outa there for a couple.

Woke up this am and heard the wind trying to blow the top off the house and went back to bed!!
PM Got sick of looking out the window at the wind and decided to go out. Went behind the house hit 2 brand new rubs going in. Got set up in a very sturdy treestand but it was not where I wanted to be. After 15 minutes I got down and moved towards the spot we were in last night. I wanted to be in a spot on a little knob with the creek bottom to my left and the woodlot to my right and front. Wind quarterin to my face. I just about get there and look up and about 140 yards out I see a good size deer. It must of saw me move coming in and took off. Arg! I decide to stay anyway. I get all set up and about 20 minutes later two deer go booking across about 70 yards out from left to right and the second is sporting bone the first I was not sure. They run out of site. About 5 minutes later I see a doe running straight at me. She goes by my left about 20 feet out. Behind her by 30 yards is a buck. He is just past the ears and looks good. He gets right off to my side at about 20 feet and I mouth bleat. I am already at full draw and he stops slightly quartering to me. I drop the string and I see the arrow bury right into his shoulder. Not a pass through but I new it was solid. He took right off into the creek bottom which is real thick. The doe hung around for another 5 minutes and then trotted off. She was real dark almost chocolate brown. Looked like an Adirondack swamp deer! I new he did not go far so I waited like 15 minutes and found him just the other side of the bottom. He went maybe 50 yards. Nice 8 point, 2.5 year old. He hit 141lbs. on my new set of scales dressed weight. It has been a while since I shot one from the ground. That was cool!! I will get pics up tomorrow. He is not a bruiser but nice, I got no will power!!

WTG Fletch! Get those pics up when you get a chance. Doesn't it feel great to put a buck down with your bow two years running?

Thanks for the kind words everyone!! Yes Fred yours was a nice one. Rack size is about the same but yours looks a lot bigger bodied. Or maybe you are just really small!! ;D
Got back at it this morning looking for a fat doe. In a stand behind the inlaws. Saw zero and the temp went up quick. It was 38 when I got to the woods and 54 an hour and a half later. Looks like the next couple of days will be cooler. My brother in law was in my stand in my honey hole last night and had a small buck around him but no shots taken.
Also I put a better second picture up that other one was out of fucus bad.

November 1 Real nice morning. Huntied the inlaws place. Jumped one on way in right near the road and jumped one or two on the way out. Might as well stop going all the way in and hunt closer to the road!! Would have liked to stay out all day, but work calls. Could not take work so I called out early and hit a stand behind the house a bit off where I got the buck Sunday. Jumped one going in. Also had a big track in scrape so the one I shot was not the only one around. Somebody gave him that cut above his eye. I will try to get my brother in law on him. While I search for the elusive doe!
