First time in 20 years I did not take the whole week off. After workin today I asked the boss if I could skip tomorrow that there is snow on the ground on the mountain. She say no prob. So at em again full throttle tomorrow. Will be nice hunting in snow not rain!

11/21
It was a beautiful day for hunting. Too bad I spent most of it blood trailing a deer a mile plus. I did sit on watch in the morn and evening and saw nothing. I did pass a 40 yard shot on a doe while tracking, again no permit here.
My brother in law hit a big buck in the morning and he thought well. Said it looked like a ten. We tracked it over ell and back. We almost got a shot at it but were a little off. He is back in there this morning where we lost the blood. We dropped so much in elevation the snow was melting out. I do not think it is mortally wounded but we wanted to give it our all and so he is back in there this morning. I had to work.

Alright it has been a while but nothin was happenin to report except for endless day after day without seeind a deer!! It was 12 days, 10 that I hunted before I saw a deer. Sunday we got some drives going and put up some deer. Dad missed a doe, no other decent shots, but everyone saw a deer. Even me but at over 120 yards going through brush. Monday and Tuesday have had deer in the yard at 11pm each night!! Did see a couple for .002 sec at dark walking out. This am nadda but did jump one we were trying to corner but we never saw him. Freezer is not near full.

Well we are still at it. We got some deer moving on some drives Saturday and my brother took a nice doe. Every deer I saw offered no safe shots. My brother in law and me were doing the driving. Sunday I had my oportunity at a nice doe at 60 yards broadside. I MISSED completely. I rushed it so bad for no reason! Unreal, I guess I was a bit excited about having a deer in front of me I could shoot for once in the past three weeks! rrrrrrr
Will be getting at em with the ML now.

It was down to just two of us now in ML season. We have been putting up deer and seeing tons of sign but no shots. Sunday after first watch we were heading back in to do a little two man slow drive. On our way in we were cutting through the creek bottom and we put up a small buck, as he came out the opposite side he stopped to look back. My bro in law and me were basically side by side. He was about 80 yards out. I shot and like 2 seconds later he shot. The deer took off and we proceded to reload and cross the creek. The deer was dead 50 yards away. One bullet hole double lunged!! One of us hit him the other missed clean. We were just happy to get em so he is now "our deer"! We always split the meat with everyone who is hunting with us at the time the deer was shot. This one makes the freezer look a lot better!! He is a 5 point. He was skinny and had no fat in him. He also had a bullet wound across the bottom of his jaw. Looked nasty, you could see up into it and it had mucus running out and such. Looked to be at least a few days old. He had food in his stomach but it might have been affecting his feeding. Probably a good thing we ran into him. Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.

Nice Fleth Congrats!
Had the same thing happen on a 8 point years ago. Friend and I shot at the buck same exact time. Tracked him and found one hole. To this day have no idea who hit and who missed, one thing for sure the deer lost.
Enjoyed the reading all season!

Well it is over ! Over all had a good season. If we did not screw up a bunch of shots it would of been our best season ever!! We all saw a lot of deer. Except that stretch right after opening day I had!!! My family will be happy to see me again!! I think!! Main thing is we enjoyed a lot of hunting even with the crappy weather. We also got a pretty good supply of venison. In fact I think the butcher should be caling soon. And I have a yote at the taxidermist. Hope ya all have a wonderful Christmas and get lots of good hunting stuff!!
