LOL Fletch, believe me when Im not there, my buddy is right there keeping track for me. I forgot to mention I hunted from 3pm til 5:25 on Wednesday as well and all I saw were the squirrels and a rabbit. My buddy hunted there tonight and only saw squirrels. We both saw a dead squirrel in the field with it's head cut clean off at the neck and neither of us was responsible for it. Not sure if a cat got it or if that grey fox running around didn't finish his meal. My BIL saw the spike out there at 730am this morning while dropping his kids off. He grunted to him a few times and that little guy came right to the edge of the field by the house looking for a fight. My BIL and MIL were laughing.
My apple tree is still loaded for some reason. Not a leaf on it but there are still hundreds of crabapples on it. Like I said I shake it everytime I am up there and more fall but there are plenty to go around.
I don't think he would've hung around for an hour had I been in the stand before he came down but by 6:40 it was light, even with the cloud cover. Bummer though you are right.

I'm trying to keep at it as best I can. Missed a beautiful misty morning this morning. Boss is off today so I have to run the show and couldn't get out. I am trying to rush things along here at work today so I can maybe get an hour or more in the tree this evening. If I get out, I'll post up later. Thanks for the well wishes.

11-7-08 Friday
Well I got it done at work and was out by 10 after 4. I was dressed and in the stand by 4:35pm. It was nice and quiet and then I hear some leaves rustle behind me. I look and its my buddy the spike coming down. It was 5pm so I let him go past and start to feed in hopes that another deer would come down. Well none came from behind the stand. SO I lowered the bow and scared the little bugger who ran back into the woods. As I am heading down the field, this deer comes running at me from around the corner of this brush and almost runs me over but darts the other way and keeps on going. Man did that scare me just a touch. It was so fast but it was a nice sized deer just not sure what it was. Only thing I can think is that it came up through the field as I never saw any come past the stand. Man it was hot out there tonight. The light rain we had, had the peepers out in full force. Felt weird hunting in this hot weather. Hope it cools down soon. Good Luck to you guys tomorrow as I will be working but checking for updates.

11-9-08 Sunday
Was up early and out in the stand about 5:45am. Wind was blowing lightly and conditions seemed perfect. I played with the calls for just over 4 hours on stand and finally said I've had enough. Checked the trail cam and again its all night time movement anywhere from 7pm to 4am. Not sure what is going on. The doe are there just not during the day. Same with the bucks. It's getting tough out there for sure. I plan on doing the all dayer on Wednesday so we will see what happens. That is my last oppourtunity before gun opens. If it's anything like last year, lookout. Give'em hell on Wednesday Zemm! I am going to hunt all day Friday and see what happens, it is one of my favorite days to hunt alot of deer movement. My brother inlaw is in Ohio and i think his buddy shot a big eight pt the first afternoon. My nephew who lives above Watkins Glenn saw three bucks on Friday and so many doe he lost track. All of the bucks were dogging does grunting like heck.

Well at least someone is seeing them during daylight hours. Just a little frustrated right now at the lack of movement but hopefully something will come together. If not, there is always the gun season and then muzzleloader.
My FIL just got back from his hunt in Colorado. It was his first time out there and he said it was great. He ended up getting a 4x4 muley with browtines, which I guess they don't count as points. So it is actually a 10 point with a 23 to 24 inch spread. (roughly) I took a few snapshots of the head as he is getting a euro mount done on it but I haven't uploaded them yet. I will tomorrow and post em. He said they ran into some Bull elk and cows - he didn't fill his cow tag and didn't buy the bill tag. Guess what he ran into 1st day, a monster bull only 50 yards away. Said it was incredible to see such an animal in person.

11-12-08 Wednesday
Well I was excited about this day. Had high expectations going in for sure. My wife was home by 5:30 and I was out the door within 10 minutes after she got home. Was on stand just before 6 and it was plenty dark. Very light wind blowing out of the woods and into the field. Perfect mroning. I toughed it out until 11:30 am and all I saw were squirrels and woodpeckers. That was a tough 5 hours to endure and not see one deer. Had to get some stuff for the upcoming trip to camp and hit the bank. Was back on stand by 2:30pm. Yup not alot of fun. At 5:10, dark basically, the leaves are thrashing and here he comes, my buddy the spike. I could see my pins but I had said if he came down he was safe no matter how bad I wanted to shoot the bow. I ended up saying "Hey buddy, take a hike" Scared the crud out of him thats for sure. Then got down around 5:30pm and called it a season.
Well the tags will still be good for the late season and I have the new muzzleloader waiting to take a deer. Plus the regular season is upon us. I have to work Saturday but am heading down to camp right after work. I can hunt until Wednesday and then have to be back to work on Thursday. I will be checking in on Saturday to see how you guys did so post up early!!! And good luck to all and be safe.
