you never can tell how people will react. She could of been having a bad day or read about that little girl that was shot. It doesn't take much these days to set off people, you conducted yourself in a way that would make all of us hunters proud. Now-GET THAT BIG ONE!

Yea you gotta respect the lady. If you acted irrational it would only lead to more problems.

11-23-08 Sunday
Woke up at 7:45 this morning and was getting ready. My cell rang and it was my neighbor. I'm thinking he is cancelling and he says look out back. So I head to the kitchen and look out and there is a doe feeding out behind our houses. We live in a fairly busy neighborhood so it was neat to see. He said see you in 15 minutes.
We made it to his property around 8:30am and noone was there yet and we decided to still hunt our way out to their base camp in the woods. Just as we were around the corner from camp around 9:30am I see 4 deer running away from me. Wayyy too far away with open sights on my shotgun. We wait at camp for about 30 minutes and the guys radio us to say they are there and going to push to us so get set up. There were 3 standers and I was in the middle. I had no clue where the stand was he wanted me to sit in so I found a nice spot and stood on the ground. Next thing I know, here comes a spike to my left like 15 feet away. Neat buck with 9 to 10 inch daggers sticking straight up. I look right and there are 6 doe going everywhere. I tried to judge a larger one and couldn't draw a bead on any of them so I had to watch them all dart off. Man did that happen quick and I was not used to it. I had been there 2 hours and saw 11 deer thus far.
We regrouped and I told them where I saw the deer go. We set up for the next drive and I was to be dropped off just above the buddy stand. I jump off the 6wheeler and start down the hill and stop. Right under the stand I was headed to, there are 3 deer. They saw me and took off. Must be the wheeler had them on alert. No deer on that drive and we pushed one more section and nothing. Saw 14 deer from 830 to 1230. Was a great morning and we plan to hit it again Wednesday.

I'm baaaackkkk! You didn't even know I was gone did ya. Long story short - my brother is in town and we tried to fix and update my PC. Things happen that are beyond our control and my brother ended up having to buy us a new PC. Just got it running last night but have been busy. Happy Thanksgiving to all though. Ok time for an update
11-26-08 Wednesday Got up at 6am to meet my neighbor by 630am. We headed out a few minutes early and drove to his property less than 5 minutes away. As we are pulling up to park on this snowy morning he stops and backs up. There are 2 deer crossing the road into a field. We drov over to check them out and it was two smaller doe feeding along none too quickly so we figured they would be moving for sure.
We went seperate ways and set up for a short morning sit. At 930am he called me and said he was coming up. Neither of us had seen a deer just squirrels. We decided to walk and there were 3 others coming to push to us within 30 minutes. We headed over the hill and the snow started falling hard. They called and said come back to the other side of the hill so we trudged through the snow back over the hill. We were headed to a familiar stand for me and sure enough, there were deer bedded underneath it. Even though the snow was falling hard, we were spotted and they took off right towards the drivers.
They made the push towards us but again the snow was falling so hard you could only see about 20 yards in front of you. No deer sighted. Did one more drive that usually produces but nothing today. Hunted til 1130am and called it quits. Did not hunt Thanksgiving Day as we had two places to visit this year. Will get back at em on Sunday, somewhere, just not sure where.

Well my neighbor and the boys (13 total) pushed some deer around on their property today. They ended up getting 2 doe and a button. Not too bad but not great. He isn't hunting tomorrow so I am not sure what to do. Think I will sleep in and maybe head down to my camp late morning. Have a few things to pick up from the 1st week (propane tanks and a cooler) so I might as well hunt the afternoon down there. My FIL wants to head down as well. I'll post up tomorrow night.

11-30-08 Sunday
Slept in this morning and the weather was turning bad and only going to get worse. I ended up skipping the whole day and did not hunt. I know, I know, I'm just as depressed about it as you are. I did however get to go out with the family and for the 1st year, we got a real Christmas tree. Drove out to the tree farm and we were going to cut our own but again the weather got nasty, sleet and rain mixed with a little snow so we ended up picking one already cut. Opened it at home and it had a bird nest in it too!! Was a good day all in all. I'll get after them on Wednesday.

Yeah my camp is in the Catskills off of Rt17 outside of Hanc o c k NY so I'm glad I didn't head down that way. Tomorrow should be a decent day. There is a front moving in tomorrow night here and the low for tonight is 25. I will be out early tomorrow at the top of that field you drive by Burt. There is a little swampy area on the left side that I plan on hunting. It has been good in the past so I am hoping to get it done somehow. If not, there are still a few days left.

12-3-08 Wednesday
Not an early riser thats for sure. Got to the in laws at 735am. Spoke with my FIl for a few minutes and headed down to the road to my "new" entrance thanks to the neighbor lady. Man was it crunchy. I take 10 steps off the road and Whammo up pop 2 deer headed right to where I was headed had I gone the "other" entrance. Anyways, I thought I could sneak down on them but no chance with as noisy as it was. Stood until 9:15 and then decided to walk even though it was noisy but the wind had picked up. Jumped another deer but never saw it on the edge of a briar thicket, but heard it crashing away. I did not go in after him. I then proceeded through a pine flat on the side hill and almost reached the end back by my bow stand and jumped not sure how many but leaves and sticks were a crashing so there were a few of them. And that was my morning. Blahhh.
Gun season seems to be getting tougher for me each year. Wish I could get out like during bow but it's impossible being so close to the holidays with work and family. Hopefully Sunday something will come together just like on all those hunting shows, "It came down to the last hour, on the last day" Yeah right!!!! But like the Ny Lottery says, "Hey, Ya never know".
Ok enough corny slogans. Back to work for me.
