Just got back from a great weekend! Had my shot first thing Sat morning. Broadside at 40 yards
a mature doe, I missed! Sucks when you miss and they just stand there and walk away!!!!!!!
Took a walk around the property and checked out a few areas. They were hitting the food plot pretty heavy so I decided to hunt it Sat afternoon. Got in the stand at 1:30 it was 16 degrees out, boy was I cold! It was amazing, at about 3:45 I see a doe in the pines at 40 yards but through some thick stuff she walks forward and there are 4 more following her. I can see deer bodies but not the whole deer so I opt out shooting at them. 5 minutes later I can see across the field below the pines deer piling out into the field 1 by 1 they come out at least 10 deer are walking toward the food plot about 100 yards out. The lead doe starts heading down into the woods about 75 yards from me she crosses right in front of me and I watch all the others follow her. I thought they would come right in but they didn't. Now I hear more crunching in the snow coming right at me from the pines. I see a deer getting close and it turns down towards the other deer and only offers a so so shot and I decide not to shoot. Her yearling follows behind her now I'm up to 16 deer sighted in about 15 minutes it was really cool.
I hung in the stand way past dark thinking a buck would be mixed in but not tonight. What a way to end the season!!!!! Did not see any Sunday morning. Left Howard with a few inches on the ground and came home to Huntington with 2 feet of snow!!!!
Happy Holidays to all!!!!!!!!!!!!
