The start of a new year looks promising! We have the bear back in our corn fields and a few nice bucks. In all about 8 different bucks caught on the cam and one is real nice. I will be Bow hunting the second weekend and 5 days around Nov 3-7. Just a little note about this year- It may be the last for my Father-in-law. It is getting real hard for him to get around these days. We run him in on the quad opening morning but his stride and balance are taking a toll on him. On a brighter side I will be mentoring a Jr. Bow hunter the Nov week I'm up there. He is 14 from New Jersey and has no one to hunt with. His mother and father don't hunt so I volunteered. Good luck to all, this weekend looks good!

Thanks guys, yea the biggest problem is he is getting close to 80 and had a stroke years ago but he is really getting stiff these days. One fall and he breaks something it will be real bad. This guy has done some hard hunting in his years we want to make sure he gets one more crack at one!

Like I said I am home for the opener but my Bro-in-law and friend are up there. They saw nothing Sat morning, snowing slight wind but heavy snow on the trees. Sat evening Jim sees 5 doe behind him and my Bro-in-law sees moma bear and her two cubs. Second year in a row we have this on our property. There is also a big male and a small male around, what the heck? ?

Zemm, Your spot on. To tell you the truth, I haven't been feeling that great lately but I'm taking care of things. Being divorced I get the kids every other weekend so this bow season leaves me only two long weekends to hunt. I'm taking off Wednesday afternoon to be at the cabin wed-sunday. My boss is coming up with his kid Friday night and I will spend the weekend with him teaching him all about bow hunting. I have a stand set up so the two of us will be together. I think this might be the hilite of the season for me. For me it couldn't come at a better time. My bil is at the cabin this weekend with his friend but again the weather doesn't look that great. Thanks for checking in, now bag a big one!

Don't you know it! Leaving tomorrow afternoon from the city around 4. Will be hunting all day Thursday and Friday. Zach and his dad come up Friday night and I will mentor Zach the rest of the weekend. The weather looks great and we have a full moon. Any of you guys have a preference about hunting with a full moon?
