Yeah I decided I am going to go - housework is all done so no sense just sitting around here. I'll enjoy mother nature for a few hours. Good luck in the morning

10/21 am 50 degrees
Sat two hours in the same spot I was on the opener. What a drag, nothing. Boy I forget how slow it can be in the first week or so when you have no summer pattern spots!!

10/22 am 52 degrees
Out behind the house again and man the leaves are coming down! Right at 8am I see a deer, nope 2. I get the binos up and it is two bucks. A small 6 and an iffy not quite it yet 8. The 8 has a good size body though he best not tempt me to much, especially when not seeing a deer in days!! ;D He was real dark as well. Watched them for a bit and they even had a short spar then cut through below me about 80 or 90 yards out. Same spot two cut ny me on Monday. I am thinking I need to get outa this spot and get a hang on up down there. Looks like something to do mid day Sat or Sun.
Supposed to be 66 out today yik!

10/22 pm 62 degrees Nice and warm!! Went to the new ladder stand I put out back last week. Warm but figured better than workin! I needed to cut a few branches and zip tie em to give me some better cover any how. Got that done and got to sittin and the wind started up and leaves were falling thicker than spit. After about 30 minutes sitting I spot a deer over 150 yards out through a gap in the trees. I get the binos up and trying to see what it is when all the sudden it starts running, then i see another and it is running. What the heck? All the sudden I see one and it is running directly at me...oh crap... put the binos down and get the bow fool!! It gets about 50 yards from me and cuts into a thicket and I see now it is a small flat head. It works it's way to the edge and I can just see bits of it at like 35 yards. And now it just mills around there for like 5 minutes. I finally pick up another deer, this one bigger so must be mom, coming around the other side of the thicket... and with another fawn. So now I got all three between 30 and 55 yards in front of me wind swirlin and blowin and they are all on high alert. After about ten minutes mom does not like the shape I am making in the tree and blows and off they go. Stupid deer! The stand was put up to catch deer going across 90 to it and off to each side not directly at me!! Guess they did not get that memo. Will have to sit it another time or two but this stand may have to move a bit!! At least seeing deer today. Oh and it started raining a bit tonight but I will not complain after last year!!

10/23/ am 38 degrees Well nice and chilly this morning but that is doing me no good! Seeing more when it is warm? Up in stand behind house at 6:40 am. At 7:20 I hear something and look to see a dog trotting across above me about 70 yards out. Not good. I had a problem with two dogs, this is one of them, all summer. They were in my yard and woods 8 maybe 10 times and I chase them off. Finally called dog warden but not sure if he ever checked anything or not. Never heard back from him. I thought they might be a neighbors but not so sure. The one I could see the best, a golden retriever, had no collar. I had not seen them in a month so was hoping all taken care of. Guess not. At least it was just one! Of course coming out on the trail on the other side of my prop a big pile of dog crap in my trail. rrr I am not mad at the dog, just who ever dumped him/them. I do not see a domestic dog making it through our winter. Hope he stays clear and leaves the deer alone. I saw 5 deer yesterday so they are not run off. Also I do not have any trail cam pics of him all summer I need to pull the card it has been a couple weeks. We'll see how this turns out.....

10/23 pm 46 degrees
Well I got brave after looking at the weather report and the incoming rain and wind and went out. Hoped to catch something moving before it got bad out. I can not beleive I only got a couple sprinkles on me!
Walked up on a doe and two fawns going in. They never new i was there and I skirted them to my lader stand. Doing that I was not watching the other side of me well and bumped right into another. That was a small one and it took off. Got to my stand at 4:30 and nothing until 6pm when a 3 point walked by me at 25 yards broadside dead to rights, never new I was there. Not the one I want. Five minutes later one comes out of the creek bottom to my left and right behind me with a 20 yard broadside. This was a small deer and may have been a big button or real small spike. It was getting pretty dim by then. Glad I got out.
Well tomorrow looks like a washout with 20 to 30 winds and rain. I will take a peak at the weather in the morning but it don't look good!!

You using a climber or other stand out on the state lands or are you hunting from the ground? Just curious. I'm thinking later in the week I will investigate some state land about 10 to 15 minutes from house. Sold my climber so I would be going at it from the ground unless I borrow my BIL's climber.

10/25 pm 58 degrees?
Well my brother and me hit my honey hole spot for the first time this year. Jumped a doe going in. I sent him up top on the ridge and I went down into the "hole". Man I gotta quit being so lazy and get out preseason and clean up my trails!! Man I hate green briar!! This spot is thicker than a jungle and fun when trees fall over my trail in and lots of green briar encroaching! Well got set up and it was a bit windy. At 5:30 I have a small doe and a fawn right in front of me, never heard em. They were through my lane before I even had my bow in my hand. They hit my bro at a few minutes before 6 and he hit the doe. I met him at his stand and he thought he hit her good but all I found was some white hair and a little blood and some stomach matter. I could not pick up any blood trail at all. We opted to pull out and go in at 7:15am. This worries me because we have never left a deer overnight in this spot that the yotes did not get.

10/26 am 32 dgrees
Not hunting we meet at 7:15am for recovery mission.
We head back to the scene and I have him go back to where he shot and play it out for me. Again not any evident blood trail so we get about 20 yards apart and head where she ran looking for sign. I found her dead within 80 to 100 yards. He hit good just an inch or two back. Went in high and got at least one lung and just nicked the guts going out. Plenty of blood here but tracking back not any. Nice little doe 1.5 year old. Thank goodness the yote did not find her she is gonna be tasty! It was 30 last night so she is in great shape and hanging in the shed now. Good job bro!
I will get a pic up tonight.
Side note behind the house the yotes where making a heck of a racket when I went to bed. Sounded like at least 3 of them and not very far back! Need to see a few of them to wipe out.
