10/26 pm 57 dgrees
Got out behind the house in the ladder stand. Was out for 1.5 hours and saw 7 deer. 2 does 3 fawns and 2 not sure. Had the last doe and fawn behind me just at end of legal. By the time the doe hit where I could shoot it was too late. She had me pegged from behind and did a ten plus minute showdown with me. I finally won one and she convinced herself I was just a big tree growth and went about her business.

10/27 am 45 degrees
Out behind the house in the hanger I put up Sat. Sat 1.5 had one not sure buck or doe pretty far out in the brush cross and that was it.
My deer per hour has improved dramatically. 1 deer sighting per 2 hours as of now.
Scrapes and rubs showing up last few days as well.

7/27 pm 61 degrees This spot is killin me! I got to stand with 1.5 hours to hunt just like last night. Nothing until 5:30 then I got deer all over!! I can not take this. I got deer running around out front. They finally come in from front right right at me, the doe and two fawns. Also one coming along creek bottom to my left. The doe got me pegged and I say screw it and turn to look at the solo, which I figure is a buck. She blows and goes and he stops. Just a little guy the 3 point. He contiues on and that stupid doe works in two more times to blow at me in the next 15 minutes. It is now just past legal and I am getting my gear packed and I hear more deer comin, crap. For the next 40 minutes I had deer runnin all over behind me. I can not see a thing it is black out! I hear gruntin and antlers , and not no sissy 3 point antlers, hitting brush and two set hittin each other. If I had to guess I am thinking 3 deer, two bucks and a doe. I sit until I do not hear them so I can slip out without spookin them. I am not to certain how to proceed here. I did not go out this am and the way it is raining now I am glad. I gotta get back in there but may take a climber a bit farther back than the ladder. I have seeen 11 deer in the last two evenings in 3 total hours outa this stand. Really in the last 30 minutes each night. They are moving late with the heat. I have not morning hunted it just because it is not quiet getting to but will have to this week. It will be quieter now that it has rained.

I would take notes on where they are coming from and set your climber accordingly. Also as you mentioned with a drop in temp hopefully they will make their way sooner. I have noticed the same thing in the p.m. with movement the last 30 minutes...it sucks

10/28 pm 53 degrees
Took the climber back behind the house and set up about 50 yards deeper. Got in stand at 4 so put in 2 hours. At 4:40 I saw one flat top feeding out about 100 yards and she just worked back in the thick stuff. At 5:45 I had a doe and fawn come by and man I thought I was going to get a shot. After 10 minutes of slowly feeding towards where I could get a shot and about 2 feet short of being dead they turn down and away from me. rrrr
Had one more while I was just starting to climb down about 30 yards from me appear outa no where.

10/29 pm 54 degrees
Back out behind the house again in the ladder stand. I am in the does so why not! In the stand at 4pm. Nothin again until 5:30 and I have a doe and two fawns workin towards me. They are still out of range after 15 minutes when i hear crashing in the pines to my right. Out flies a small deer just runnin to beat heck and goes through behind me. The deer out front bugger outa dodge and I hear something else comin outa the pines. Two freakin dogs chasin the deer. The same two I have had problems with. A golden retreiver and another yellow one not quite as big. I holler at em and they stop for a sec before cutting out. Man I am not happy. The golden comes back by me about 5 minutes later.
I have no idea how to deal with this issue! Shootin them is not legal and I do not think I could shoot a dog anyhow. I would like to shoot whoever dumped them. I just want them gone. I can not beleive the deer I am seeing with these two runnin deer here. Any ideas?
I also jumped a bunch of crows going in outa a thicket, I will have to check it out and see if they got one in there.
On another note a scrape made about a week ago was raked out between when I went in and came out under my hang on I put up this week.

10/30am 51 degrees
Out in ladder stand again for 2 hours. Saw one not sure doe or buck at about 8am a ways out. At just before 9am I had a 1.5 yr old maybe 6 point of to my right cut through about 90 yards out. I did hit the can on him and he had no interest. Too smal anyhows. Just wanted to see what he would do.
Jumped one going out under one of my other stands. Also found 3 fresh scrapes.

Fletch - sucks about the dogs. Maybe the local dog warden could help or even a DEC officer. I know I wouldnt be able to shoot either, no matter how bad it pisses you off. Glad to see you are seeing deer. Now they just need to get closer and cooperate without the distractions. Good Luck as things look to be heating up in a good way!!!

So now I am playin texas holdem on the phone figurin spot is kissed for the night and hear the pitter patter of hooved critter coming in.
15 minutes after dog chase take two a buck come right outa where that just took place and walks to 12 yards of me! Go figure. Nice 1.5 year old either a 5 or 7 I could not tell if he had legal brows. He hung within 30 yards of me for 20 minutes. That was cool but I really want to kick some dog a$$!!
Weekend weather looks junk, cooler stuff coming in about Wednesday.
I have seen 23 deer on stand in the last 5 days, are ya kiddin me!!

I would have to do something about those dogs. You wait all year to hunt and "it goes to the dogs" Trap them and call the warden. Spend a few hours setting up and you'll have them in no time.

No antler restrictions here. I just try to stay away from the 1.5 year olds.
I will call the dog warden Monday and see what they won't do for me!
10/31 am 59 degrees
Got out behind house for 2 hours in hang on. Had a small buck cut below me at 8am. A bit after that I had a beautiful red fox come right behind me. Got down at 9 before it got bad out. Jumped the stupid buck that passed me earlier. He had bed down in the bottom.

10/31 pm 51 degrees Back to the ladder stand at 4:15pm or so. The rain passed and it was nice out. I was getting worried my streak of seeing deer would end but at 5:45 a decent buck came out of the pines to my right and cut behind me. I canned him a couple times and he stopped but was not interested and kept going. I canned again and something spooked him and he jumped and turned around and the walked right out to me 18 yards quartering to and he had a big body and I counted 8 points. Rack was not huge but it was too much to pass! I hammered him and he took off. I hit the shoulder and did not get a pass through but I could see the hit and new he was dead. I thought I heard him crash so I got down and followed him up quick as dark was comin fast. He went maybe 90 to 100 yards lots of blood when the arrow broke off. Man he was bigger body than I thought! I started dragging him and about died. He ran onto my neighbors land after the shot. I have permission to retrieve deer but did not want to gut him till I pulled him back on my property. Got him back to the house and put him on the scales and he weighed 173 pounds dressed. 8 pointer with a small kicker. I will get some pics up tomorrow, Happy Halloween to me!! Love it.
