Ah here it is 5:30 am and the radar looks stupid with rain within the hour. Me thinks it is a good time to go back to bed!
May get out Friday for a bit to close out the early bow season.

Hola! Been hunting hard.
Opening day of southern 11/15.
What a joke of a day! Sat for 4 hours in the rain in the am and 2 in the pm and saw absolutely nothing, except water! 5 of us hunting and nobody saw as much as a tail! Worst opener ever!

11/16 am WINDY 20mpr w/ 30 gusts in the high 40'sf First thing in the am a buddy had a big doe come out by him btu he has no doe tags. Behind her came a grunting 4 pointer so he put the smack down and the deer dropped. He calls my BIL and is on the cell "yadda yadda got one down....." then he is like "whoa I gotta go" The deer got up and stated going away! He shot it again and it was final. I was sick of the wind on my first watch so started still hunting around this pond I hunt around. About 1.5 into my stillhunt I entered a small swamp on the back side. I took one step down into the pines and looked around for a couple minutes and did not see anything so I was looking at the ground for my next quiet foot spot and up pop a three flatheads, one takes off right one takes off left and one stops directly behind a blowdown at about 45 yards. All I can see is head and about 4 inches of neck. I got the scope on it and am waiting for it to take a step. Minutes later the deer has still not budged. I crank up the scope and scrutinize the head and can see no signs of buttons so I put the crosshairs on the base of the neck and popped her. She dropped and feet stuck in the air.

Thanks guys! 11/16 pm still down in Tully as we were this am and yesterday. We are on last watch. About 4pm my BIL had a nice buck come out and he called him closer with a can and got a good shot on him at about 60 yards. I knew it was him or my brother shooting so we called each other and all met up at the deer to help dress and drag. Now this is funny, my brother is just standing and he has got his gun in his hand resting the but on the ground. My gun is against a tree as well as my BILs. My BIL is half into dressing out the deer and I am reorganizing gear so one of us can hike out guns and coats while the other 2 drag. Any hows I hear a grunt close and I think it is my brother screwin around. He thinks it is me screwin around. Well it turns out to be a buck coming in. I never saw more than a flash of it but my brother sees it about 60 yards out nice buck and all he can see is the head and some rack and the deer has got him pegged and his gun is still down. I tried to get him to move with a couple can calls but he new somethin was not right. He just vanished. It was pretty brushy and he must have just backed out. We were talking and not being quiet at all!! Would of been somethin to get that one as well! Here is the one my BIL got.
