I hear you with the coyote's. I had the same problem late season last year and same this year. They go right for my gut pile and then make themselves at home I must have had fifteen sets of tracks following every deer track through the woods. Can't wait to get the .17 out and take a few wacks.

Put up one nice doe on a drive. I had no shot that was safe. She went at my BIL and busted him and he could not get a shot.

fargo cold! Man I hunted all day hard. I walked up one real nice one mid day but we saw each other same time. 50 yards bedded. I was slow and the deer won!! Was gone before I could get the gun up! Big deer.

hunted behind house with BIL his last day so I pushed 3 drives for him. The one behind the house I put up a doe and fawn who went out right for them wrong for us!! The other two nadda.

Well it is down to me now the last day.
Hunted Tully in the am and man the snow was so crunchy!
Still hunted 3 Riv for a couple hours and not a track.
Sta for last watch behind the inlaws and struck out.

Well that is the end of it. Not a bad season. I ended up with 3 deer. I would of loved to get one with the ML. Also one yote. Key points of the season: I never saw one good buck that I know of. That is a first in a long while. I love bow season! ;D I barely saw a deer on stand all of gun seasons. I walked up both does I got and most other sightngs as well. Kinda miss seeing deer on stand! Need to get off the public land! My hunting party did poor! 1 deer out of the brother in law( the real nice 8), 0 for brother, 0 for dad who did not get out much and 0 for uncle who did not get out much as well.  I did not miss a deer, the 3 shots I took the bow buck went 40 yards, doe 1 went 1 yard down and doe 2 went 50 yards or less. Second year in a row without a deer out of the back woods after 5 years of successes. I did pass a few though and the deer seem to be using it as well as ever. I jumped at least 100 grouse this deer season!! watch I will take the bird gun out and see no grouse and a lot o deer!!  10 months till bow season!!  Things to do before next season: Buy some hunting land!! Plant a food plot behind the house. That is gonna be a bear of a job! Anyone got a dozer?? |
