Just as a side note, I went out to lunch with the new Managing Editor of our magazine yesterday. Things right now are very good for me, he wants me to take on more resposibility and workload. That is "music to my ears" in this climate I'd stand on my head in the corner for hours if he wanted me too. Thanks for all of the concern guys!

Well it's Tuesday morning and I can't wait to get back to camp. I will have my girls with me for Thanksgiving and Friday which is great! I will be heading back to camp with my brother friady afternoon, going to do all day hunts Sat and sun. Talked to the farmer late Sunday and he said he was going to get at least 50% of the corn off the field. That should help the hunting. Still not sure if I will take a crack at a bear? I hope the mom and cubs don't get shot, it would be illegal to do such a thing. (thanks joel) The weather seems to look good for the weekend, with a little luck I will get one!

Just got off the phone with my neighbor by camp. Says there are about 4 inches of snow. Told me his father and cousins canceled coming up and said his 180 acres are open to me my brother and brother inlaw to hunt. He is a great guy, goes over to my place and opens it up gets the heat and electric going so when I pull up the place is set. I offer my place for them to hunt when I am not there. I feel very lucky to have this relationship. I hope to connect this weekend with some meat for the freezer. Good luck this weekend guys!

Thanksgiving weekend! Just myself and my brother at the cabin. 8:45 Sat morning after a slow start I look behind me and see a deer enter the field about 80 yards away. At this point it was time for some meat so I pulled up on the deer and saw it was a broken 4pt rack but a very nice looking deer. I put the 1187 on it's shoulder and put a 3" copper top right through his ribs blowing out both lungs, deer ran 30 yards into some thick stuff and died! Finally some meat for the freezer! Now the great part, my brother and I did some two man pushes on the property and didn't kick up anything, it was about 2:00 and I said to him which stand would you like? I got my deer so I left it up to him. He chose a food plot stand that bordered some thick pine trees. Well about 3:30 I hear a shot from his direction, then one more. My cell rings and it is him, he says " hey Burt what would you say if I told you I just shot a great big 10 pt?" I didn't believe him and said where did you hit him? He says the head!!!! I was saying to myself what the heck? I told him I would be right over. I'm just start walking and hear another shot. I pick up the pace and get to him standing over the 10pt with one antler in hand. He tells me the neighbor shot first so he turned in that direction and saw the deer zig zagging through the pines head down moving real fast, the deer was on him in seconds and the only shot was at his back at 6 yards from the base of the tree!!!! My brother went from scope to iron sites and pulled the trigger. The bullet from his 35 hit the base of the right antler knocking out the deer and sending the antler flying. He tells me he remembers seeing the antler flipping in the air in slow motion to him! Well the deer goes down he calls me and starts lowering his gun. The deer comes to and tries to get up but is really messed up so he pulls the gun back up and finishes him off, the third shot. Lucky for him it was a clean break at the base with little damage. The deer is really dark chocolate brown it weighed 176 dressed and we green scored it about 140. This is one of three big ones on the property the other two are still out there. He was in the right place at the right time having alot of luck on his side! Enjoy the pictures-a weekend to remember! He is in the first picture, I am in the second holding the broken antler in the right placement. Third pict is my 4pt Yahoo meat!
