Long day. Sat for 5 hours in stand am One before light. Had a doe and two fawns go by around 9 but could not get a clean shot. Zippo in the pm. Brother saw a few no shots. Bro in law got a small doe.
Man I am beat. Just had some canned venison over noodles a cold Guiness or 3 and going to bed and back at em in the am!!
Hey Fletch, do you get the bowhunter survey from the DEC? I get it every year and send it in with my stats, you should request one if your not getting it.
Man I have been hunting hard since Saturday and I have seen one deer in the last 3 days and that was after I sat on watch for 4.5 hours this am I get up and head to the trail and a doe is standing 170 yards up the trail. She runs off into another hunter and bang.
I did go over to Caz Sunday afternoon where my uncle gets invited to hunt some private land. They had taken 5 bucks and 3 does in a day and a half on 150 acres. And a couple real nice ones.
Out this am for a short sit I had to take my uncles spike to the butcher. All I saw was a yote and could not get a shot. 3 of us out nadda.
Got out this pm with my bro down in the honey hole. He kicked up a buck and doe near his stand and they headed my way. They came by me just as I was hookin up to my tree and busted me. All I saw was two rear ends but I imagine they were the same 2. About 3 pm I see one way out maybe 180 yards and think it is a small buck before it slips in the thick stuff. He came out in front of me about an hour later and was a spike. I passed him at 65 then again at 45 yards. My brother saw two more a doe and fawn. He passed a long shot on the doe because he saw something behind her and it turned out to be the fawn. They never came closer. We will be back in there in the am.
Yes I have been doing the survey for years, it is kinda cool and helps me be good about keeping track.
I received a letter from the DEC a few months ago and was told that Region 8 wasn't doing them this year due to lack of people doing them . I called the office and left a message . No one called back but a few weeks later I received one of the surveys . I think I have been doing this for close to 10 years . I received this about 4-5 years ago .............
